I just bought a 2001 Ford Ranger yesterday, which is my 3rd Ranger :woot: This is my first v6. The other ones I had were 4cyl motors and got great fuel economy. There is a very well put together website concerning the 2.3L 4cyl ranger motor and fuel economy. It shows every mod from actual engine mods to quick 5 min fixes.

I havent been able to find too much information on the 3.0 v6. Does anyone on here have any experience with that motor?

Hopefully you had a really good reason for getting a 3.0L instead of the 2.3L because the 3.0L is such ancient technology and gets horrible mileage when compared with the power it puts out.

I needed the extra torque for towing my boat. The 2.3 was too underpowered for that

True. One long-time member named his 2.3 ranger "torquenada". I drove it (empty, not towing), and the name fit.

the best i could ever do in my 1999 ford ranger automatic is 25mpgs driving 55mph on interstate! my truck is still in good shape for 200,000 miles but it normally averages about 22.5 mpgs! great truck! poor fuel mileage!
