I welcome the warm weather back to western PA, and hope it decides to stick around.
I filled my Suzuki SX4 AWD 5M yesterday, with the intention of driving it to work today. I had 3 cases of bottled water and one case of coke in the cargo area. I picked them up at Sams club for our office. So it was that additional weight, and me in the car.
I decided i would REALLY push for mileage on this trip to work this morning. No pulse/glide, but DWB, DWL(as best i could do without a SC anyway), and sticking to the PSL or a little below all the way to work. My commute is approx 36 miles, the first 15 minutes are 2 lane rural roads with 5 stop signs, the rest is 4 lane highway, lots of hills. First 5 miles is 65 PSL, followed by 55 PSL. There is a long construction area where the traffic funnels to single lane and there is a fair amount of stop and go for the last few miles.

I used the avg MPG display on in the Suzuki, which tests have shown that it reads .2 MPG on the high side, which is pretty accurate for one of those. The car has an EPA combined of 23 MPG. My average for the trip to work as displayed when i parked in the lot at work this morning was 39.6.
Nothing close to a Wayne result, but i am still pretty happy with it. The car is still wearing it's winter tires. I did not stop long enough at any one time in the stop-go section to shut down the ICE.
I WILL get it over 40. :):)

That is flat out awesome! Wayne didn't always get Wayne results in the beginning I imagine, and you never really arrive ;) and 40 will come very soon for sure (once you get those winter tires off) unless you stick to the Caliber for warmer temps. Excellent work! :)

No, i will be alternating between the Kizashi and the smart for the most part this summer. I have already gotten the Kizzy into the 35-36 range, but being that it is a CVT it's a little more difficult than the stick shift SX4. Plus the SX4 is a 2.0 Vs the Kizzy with a 2.4

Keep at it! I hit 40 MPG on a few tests this fall. Keep working at it!
