FYI just read an article about saving fuel. Most of the tips are listed in this forum already and searched to see if this was and did not find anything so here it is.
Tighten your gas cap ---Recommend making sure your gas cap is is tight as "Be Car Care Aware" estimates 22 million litres of gasoline evaporates each year just in Canada as a result of improperly tightened or missing gas caps. Also a common cause of failing an emissions test.
Some others listed -- tire pressure, observe speed limits, maintenance, replacing spark plugs, filters, observe speed limits, avoid quick starts and stops (everyone knows these ones). Go inside instead of waiting in long lines at the drive-thru window --- two average sized light duty vehicles can waste enough gasoline to fill one coffee cup while sitting in the line up for five minutes at a drive-thru.
Don't haul unneeded items. An extra 100 lbs in the trunk reduces fuel economy by 1-2 percent. Interested to hear what others think about the gas cap comment...
