Your Favorite Gas Station is:

Citgo. Low prices, and the station is right in front of my work entrance so I don't waste fuel getting to it.

OK, so Chavez is a socialist who doesn't like our president.
I know lots of liberals who don't like our president - so what?

If it's a choice of sending our oil dollars to South American socialists or to the Mideast, I actually dislike both choices and don't find the Mideast to be a better option.

I know for sure that there will be a variety of reasons listed by responders, including:

price
convience
quality
enviromental record of company
source of oilI seriously doubt any of these companies will be shut down from lack of demand.

Shell, primarily because their pumps seem to be fairly consistent in terms of how full they fill my tank ragardless of which Shell I visit. Yeah, I care. ;)

Murphy Oil (Wal-mart gas stations) is what I've been using for probably 90% of the fill-ups. Their pumps seem to work best on the quirky Prius tank and there's one specific pump I tend to use just to try to maintain tank-to-tank fill up consistancy. Plus, I use the Wal-mart gift card to get an extra $0.03/gallon off....by my estimation I've saved a grand total of about $30 since I got the car! At least that's a couple free tanks of gas.

Other

I trade with a mom and pop store and gas station in the town I live in. Have a acct. there. :)

When on a trip it dosent matter. I have no loyalties to any gas supplier or station. I wont quible over price. 2, 3 cents a nickle a gallon. I dont care. The gas just better smell right. If it smells like old varnish when i start pumping I will get cross with somebody for trying to sell me bad gas. And it has happened.

You could add "most expensive" to the list as well... Our resident EV advocate at PriusChat, Darelldd likes to frequent the most expensive station in his area to encourage the upward movement of gas prices in his one-man-windmill-tilt effort to make gas too expensive and encourage alternate energy and EV.
I couldn't make this up if I tried!

I stick with Shell as well for a few reasons:

1) I've always gotten the best and most consistent MPG on their gas, regardless of the vehicle type.

2) Their MasterCard gives me 5% back on every gallon with no limits.

3) In this part of the country the oil that becomes Shell gasoline comes from South America, usually Venezuela. Like brucepick I'd rather give my money to a Socialist Dictator than Al Qaeda.

4) The local Shell stations always have free air and water and always keep the squeege fluid and paper towels stocked.

5) While the 2 stations I usually use are out of my way it's just by 2-3 miles, so it's worth it to me.

6) My Father-in-law worked for Shell for 15 years back in the 60's and 70's, and while he's the first to admit they are not perfect he feels that only they and BP have ever made any kinds of real efforts at things like cleaner refinement, making drilled land liveable - even arable - again, etc. The lesser of the evils, I guess.

Valero / Diamond Shamrock / Shamrock - all the same company

Price
Convenience - it's on my normal commute
Free air pump

and...
I'm a shareholder. I like the idea that $0.000,000,56 of my gas bill is actually coming back to me in dividends.

Other: Murhpy Oil (Walmart / Sams). Primarily because I heard a few reports of stellar mileage from Murhpy gas, and because it's the easiest to find in any city in Texas. Don't know what it is about Texas, but you seem garanteed to to have a Super Walmart in every city, can't say the same for any other gas station.

I like the idea of buying the most expensive to drive up gas prices though.. real counter culture.

That's funny :D

I believe one of the speakers at HybridFest 2006 was pimping BP and Shell as being a bit more eco-friendly than the others.

Hi All:

___95% of the time Shell w/ the 5% rebate CC back. Pay it off every month or you are screwed however. I actually send them a few extra dollars on each bill in the hopes it balls them with one of a billion cards having a positive balance on it each and every month :D

Tom,

Could you add two more choices and add one apiece from "Other"?

- Valero
- Murphy (Wal Mart)

_____________________

I expected a lot of different reasons, but Darelldd at PriusChat has to be the most unusual so far - to run gas prices up.

_____________________

Like Bailout, I use Shell for the free air, quality gasoline, good environmental record.

I was expecting someone to bash Exxon - any bets on that happening?

A guy at the gym a year ago bought a Touring Prius - he is very green enrironmentally and politically. He fills up Citgo to support Hugo.

In a few years, I hope to ask this again with two additional choices: (1) fossil-fuel powered electricity and (2) non fossil-fuel electricity. :)

I use pump #2 at the BP station in Wakarusa, IN. It's the station least out of my way and there really aren't any Shell stations any closer than ~10-12 miles. I seem to get pretty decent mileage with it too.:)

Go watch "The Secret History of Credit Cards" on PBS's Frontline

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/credit/

And go to the Ben Stein interview. You, like me, who pay off your CC's every month is what the CC companies call "deadbeats". :D

I go to Speedway due to their rewards program, close proximity, and that 97% of the time, they're also the cheapest.

Any chance of re-casting my "Other" as "Murphy / Walmart"

I go to Sheetz. There's a station about a mile and half from my house, so it's a convenience thing.

On a side note, AFAIK Wal-Mart's fuel stations are called "Murphy" from the east cost inland to Texas, but every one I've seen west of Texas has been called "Mirastar".

Hi All:

___I should have added this earlier … My favorite gas station is not actually listed but is both my employer and local electric utility. The future is all-electric as it is only a matter of time and the sooner we get there, the better for all our sakes :)

___Good Luck
