I FINALLY BROKE THE 50 MPG BARRIER IN MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU AUTOMATIC! IVE BEEN TRYING FOR 3 YEARS! AND I WAS STUCK AT 47.5-47.7 MPGS! I WAITED FOR THE WEATHER,WIND,TRAFFIC AND ALL THIS PAID OFF! I WENT 210 MILES ON 3.93 GALLONS OF GAS FOR A NEW RECORD FOR ME OF, drum roll please! 53.435 mpg! i drove steady state at 43 mph on interstate and country roads that were mainly flat! only about 5 percent was in town driving! WOW!,WOW!,WOW! i did it,i did it! i did it!

i think 55 mpgs is easily doable! i will try to break that this summer! if i had manual tranny with same gear ratios i believe i could break 60mpg!

Congrats ... Those GM 2.2L Ecotec engines really are good on fuel if the driver knows what he's doing... :)
