Hi All:

___Perusing the world via the net this evening and came across an interesting few posts in my local paper some might like to read …

Q. The hydrogen/electric Ford Edge (Transportation, Feb. 25) sounds promising, but I'm skeptical.

We have 300 million people in this country. Assume 100 million drive and recharge at the same time. It could require 10 trillion watts of electricity. Where are you going to get that power? D.B., Rochester, N.Y.

A. Have to think the odds of 100 million people recharging their batteries at the same time is the same as 100 million people refilling their gas tanks at the same time -- won't happen. Besides, replacing all 100 million gas or diesel vehicles with an electric won't happen either …

Q. I got a ticket in Chicago for "motor running while vehicle unattended." I was 10 feet away. How many tickets will be written on vehicles with remote starters? Is the city going to change the law? W.H., Aurora

A. If 10 feet away and you couldn't get inside in time to avoid a ticket, you deserve one. What if a kid were inside? Will the city change the law? Maybe -- if people who leave their cars running unattended don't have to call the cops to find it when a thief takes off with it or don't have to file an accident report when the kid inside hits the gearshift and runs into something.

___Good Luck
