View Full Version : Who had a visible V8?
paulbates 02-07-2011, 09:53 PM One of the best things I got as a kid was the visible v8 model. You had to put the plastic v8 together and everything worked representational. 4 stroke, a distributor that lit up little lights.
Anybody else remember it?
Right Lane Cruiser 02-07-2011, 11:02 PM I saw one in a store once but couldn't afford it. :o
worthywads 02-07-2011, 11:20 PM I had one in the mid 70s and I have one now only this time it's a 426 hemi.

msirach 02-07-2011, 11:25 PM I had a Wankel.
nidly 02-08-2011, 04:15 PM I had 3 of them, I think my brother still has it. I think they were chevies though, right?
still available maybe.
worthywads 02-08-2011, 09:39 PM My recollection was it was sort of generic, not obviously a certain motor like the hemi.
The water pump, intake, heads and exhaust are nothing like a chevy v8.
You can still buy one new.

paulbates 02-09-2011, 05:04 PM ^ That is the one I had, right there. Thanks for the memory!
worthywads 02-09-2011, 10:55 PM The little guy held up up pretty well, iirc it ran on 4 A cells and we taped together first 8 and then 12 trying to "redline" it and it never ventilated the block!!!!!!

:D
atlaw4u 02-12-2011, 08:14 PM I would like to find one and stock it away for when my daughter gets older. If she wants to drive she's going to have to be able to change her tire, spark plugs, oil, and understand how an internal combustion engine works - unless they are obsolete in 16 years.
Chuck 02-12-2011, 10:18 PM I had both the V8 and Wankel, and don't know where they are now. :o
Think it would be cool to have an HSD model.
gdsmit1 04-15-2011, 12:42 PM I wanted one, but my parents wouldn't buy it for me.

My paper route paid for mine.
jwh2000 04-20-2011, 04:56 PM I got one for Christmas, assembled it,played with it and the displayed it on a shelf in my room.
jkp1187 04-21-2011, 02:22 PM I had one. Believe it or not, my dad still has an unassembled one in the box, IIRC.
md7989 05-15-2011, 10:12 AM I had one as well. Got it for Christmas one year when I was about 10 (12 or so years ago). It was pretty cool. :D
some_other_dave 05-16-2011, 01:43 PM I went to a hobby shop in my old home town. They had one for I think $40, and more in the back (where they keep scratch-n-dent type stuff) for less. I was tempted, but there wasn't any real way to get it home with me.
