Greetings,

As I sit at my computer typing away :Banane37: , I look to my right and what do I see? Snow. Yes, it's March 6, but Spring is right around the corner and the month of June will soon be upon us.

Mark your calendars now for the 18th Annual MREA Fair June 15-17 in Custer, Wisconsin. Custer is approximately 1 hour northwest of Oshkosh.

What would be REALLY cool is to organize a caravan of Hypermilers. I'll bet by June we should be close to $3/gal, and the public will be more keen to mpg.

I live in Pleasant Prairie WI, and will be attending the 16th and 17th.

What's at the fair, you may ask. EVERYTHING!!! The latest technology in automobiles, solar heat and solar electricity, renewable energy, etc, etc, etc. This is the largest fair of it's kind in the United States. 100% biodiesel is available for purchase for my fellow "oil burners". Last year they had one of the first Toyota Camry Hybrid's in the country on display. All of the hybrids are represented, diesel-to-grease conversions, and 100% electric vehicles are on display.

Seminars, seminars, seminars: Do you want to know learn more about the latest technology in alternative energy, electric cars, modifications of existing cars? There 100's of seminars over the 3 days, taught by representatives from each particular industry.

Wayne, this would be a great forum to teach hyper-miling.

Check it out! :Banane04:

I have attended the fair twice, once in 2003 and again in 2006. I must say it grew by 50% in those three years. It really is THE event for those of us interested in efficiency and renewable energy.

Caveat: As you may know already, some of us humans can get pretty passionate about our beliefs, and this is a forum for expressing beliefs. I just noticed the key note speaker wrote a book titled, "Nuclear is Not the Answer". That should really be up Wayne's alley! However this is an environment that promotes thinking, and I've never seen a brawl yet :)

Wayne-Don't forget to bring your boxing gloves!

We also live in your neck of the woods and will be attending our 5th MREA
(Midwest REnewable Energy Association) as members. Last year we even fit in
a tour of the Point Brewery in nearby Steven's Point.

Perhaps we could coordinate a caravan of Hypermilers. We will have to arrange to occasionally switch the leader, in the fashion of Canadian geese formations, so that everybody gets an equal chance to draft off the car in front! ;)
