My experience:

I purchased (I sell... Edited by Wayne) 1 oz of Snake Oil on Ebay.

Next, I let my let my tank get low enough to where the low fuel light came on. (I drive a 2002 VW Jetta TDi)
Then, I put in 1 gallon of diesel, reset the mileage gauge, and took a picture of the gauge when the light came on again:http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6L7lS78bosU/TMdRv2qenjI/AAAAAAAAAAU/t3jrUybwJ8s/s320/p_00074.jpg

Next, I drained my 1-month-old oil, did not change the filter, and added 1oz of Snake Oil. I then shook the same oil and Snake Oil in an oil bottle, and put the mixture back in the car.

I put 1 gallon of diesel in, reset the mileage gauge, and took another picture when the low fuel light came on again:

My daily driving consists of about half highway and half city, so these readings would be an average city/highway MPG.

This fuel economy has been consistent- I recently got 126.2 miles after putting in 3 gallons, so about 42 average MPG.

My next venture will be to use 1 oz of Snake Oil with new oil and a new filter.

If you want to support my crack habit, please just send me $1...

Hi Cdptr:

Welcome to CleanMPG but I have some suspicions…

You received 42 mpg from an 02 Jetta TDI using this "stuff"?

I hate to be a PIA but for your first post, it almost sounds like an ad?

Many here have received 42 mpg from gasoline powered Cross Overs and full sized sedans without really trying all that hard... A diesel Jetta TDI? One of those are worth a hell of a lot more than 42 mpg without doing anything while running on the worst fuel known to man. Namely Off-road high sulfur, low cetane US diesel…

If you are just going by the low fuel light then there is a huge margin of error there. For accurate numbers you need to do full tanks. Not to mention that your car is rated for 38 combined for a manual, and 33 combined for an auto. So 42 MPG, just over 3 gallons, which likely has a huge margin of error, isn't very impressive since you can get a bigger improvement with some adjustments to how you drive.

With my 2001 Golf, the fuel light could come on and off depending on the incline I was on and temperature. Please repeat with a couple full tanks and report your results. And while you're here, check out http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1510. It'll do a better job increasing your fuel economy and it's totally free ;)

I thought we had been working toward lower-sulfur diesel fuel. By what mechanism do you propose this compound improves engine efficiency? And why Tungsten? Sounds like a gimmick to me.

Btw, tpr, you can improve your fuel economy by a similar amount just by using a placebo, being thoughtful and careful with your driving, and keeping an eye on the mpg. Stick around if you'd like to discuss fuel-saving techniques.

If it's being put in the oil, it sounds like a lubrication enhancer. But how will it affect emissions equipment and things like that? I'd be very concerned about putting anything out of spec in my car's oil, with the DPF and De-NOx catalysts there.

Whoops, I only skimmed the OP. Figured sulfur would be a nice lubrication enhancer for diesel fuel. I still call placebo || shenanigans.

Sounds like tungsten disulfide is similar to Molybdenum disulfide.

Which is not an endorsement, but tungsten costs a lot more so it must be better.

"dry moly" is certainly a lubricant, but I really don't think this is something you should be putting in your crankcase repeatedly over periods of time.

Good job Larry! It'll be interesting to see if he shows up again.
