Hey guys,

I was just wondering under what circumstances would N-ICE-ON be preferable rather than N-ICE-OFF in a P&G situation. Does it make a difference whether the engine is at operating temp or cool? Also, does the glide time make a difference on choosing one or the other? or speed?

I have a long hill in the morning on the way out from my house, so I use N-ICE-OFF all the way down the hill (it's about one mile long), even though the engine temp is still low. After that, I have a 1/4 mile long uphill with one flat section in the middle. Would this be a good place to do N-ICE-ON?

Also, with the P&G, I want to make sure about one point. On the glide part, do you want the combustion engine running but at the highest efficiency, or do you want it purely electric, or does it depend on the situation again?

Thanks,

Miles

I'm not sure on the insight-ii, as rules are different for those hybrid cars. But anyways on a normal car, you probably most likely want to do n-ice-off, especially if the engine is cold. When the engine is cold, the car runs in open-loop, or maybe it's closed loop mode, anyways when the engine is cold is uses more fuel during idling.

Use dwl by setting a target speed for the top of the hill. Use the flat to regain some speed and bleed it off to your target speed.
