Welcome back to the grind! Looks like the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline went up 9 cents since last week!

I had typical Monday morning traffic to contend with. Always a good start to the day.

50F, 1mph wind from the NNW, clear:

94.2mpg for 15.0mi (Home to work)

The tank is down another tick at 98.7mpg over 343.8mi with 16 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

I got my clutch mod switch mounted under the shift boot on Saturday (WAY more work than it should have been :p) and it seems to be working well. :)

74.9 mpg / 12.6 miles. Home-school-work this morning. Warmer - 66F - and calm.

The tank is down another 1/10 to 79.5 / 830 miles.

---------------------------
Weekend driving in the Ody. Drove 120 miles to Dallas, spent the night with relatives, then went to the State Fair of Texas. Crazy traffic in the vicinity of Fair Park = ~23 mpg coming and going. The overall trip came out to 29.7 mpg / ~300 miles, though.

* 23 mpg, in some of the worst stop-n-crawl city-type driving, is the van's highway mpg rating. ;)

Nice and warm on the way home today! Still annoying traffic, but what are you gonna do?

The tank average is back up to 99.1mpg over 359.2mi with 16 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Day Total: 103.6mpg over 30.4mi

I still have to drive to a Church function tonight.

I had a fantastic start this morning but traffic pulled me back down to average numbers by the time I got to work. 125mpg leaving Anoka... hit 120+mpg again in Champlin...

50F, 1mph wind from the W, clear:

109.5mpg for 15.0mi (Home to work)

The tank is finally back up over the mark to 100.1mpg over 404.5mi with 14 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

In reality, I had the best commute with the Metro this morning that I've had before, due to my prior best commute being before all adjustments were done to the sgii. Seeing how I need to fill up today, I'm just going to miss 60 mpg, but I'm sitting at 59.7 so that's still a big success.

78.2 MPG / 11.0 Miles home to work

55.6 MPG / 12.0 Miles work to home

I filled up and it turned out that I needed a small adjustment on the sgii and I ended up with 58.6 MPG on the tank. Still my best tank. I'm betting when I put my grill block on and get the reground camshaft installed I'll have no problems staying up in the 60's

Woohoo Sean! It's always nice to see triple digits. :D

---------------------
73 mpg / 13 miles - home, with a stop on the way.
87.9 mpg / 10.6 miles - home straight to work this morning. It's amazing how much better the numbers are without the school delivery detour. 70 is a good day on that route.

The tank is steady at 79.5 / 854 miles.

Thanks, Andrew. :) It was hard to hang on to with the wind and traffic today on the way home! :p

68F, 19mph headwind from the NW, sunny:

101.0mpg for 15.3mi (Work to home)

The tank is steady at 100.1mpg over 419.9mi with 14 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Day Total: 105.0mpg over 30.4mi

That day average looks kinda familiar... :eyebrow:

Very nice commute this morning. Can't wait to see how I can do on this upcoming tank. Got 568 miles on the last one for 58.6 MPG. Had a great commute back home too. I hope this trend continues.

75.8 MPG / 11.0 Miles home to work
61.2 MPG / 11.2 Miles work to home

Working from home today as I've got a full home humidifier being integrated into the furnace this afternoon.

Haha! Once again, we see how different our climates are. I may be acquiring a couple DEhumidifiers for my house soon. We had 100% humidity this morning. Drip drip drip from the trees and condensation on the inside of the windows.

----------------
80.4 mpg / 10.7 mi - home last night
75.9 / 12.5 - home-school-work this morning

The tank is down to 79.4 / 883 miles.

I've gone from one extreme to the other -- I grew up with dehumidifiers all over the place in SC... here it gets incredibly dry during winter.

Man, that was one of the more frustrating commute gamuts I've been subjected to. :p I had to stop at half of the lights and I kept getting cut off and tailgated. What is with the drivers around here??

44F (40F windchill), 6mph headwind from the SW, clear:

93.5mpg for 15.0mi (Home to work)

Come on Sean, we know you can keep a 100+mpg tank :Banane26: ;)

With your 44°F (7°C), your result is really great

Here is at least 11°C (52F) but is dropping to 4°C (39°F) until Monday.

It seams from my guessgauge that I'm falling from 74mpg to 65mpg... while I was hoping to stay over 60mpg during this winter.

Oh, I'll definitely keep trying, Denis!! I need to manage at least 107.3mpg on the way home to get the day average back up to 100mpg -- which will get the tank average back up there, too. :)

Good luck with the cold stuff!! It isn't fun here in MN either... especially when it gets down around -32C :p

Not as good a commute this morning but I had a rash of the horrible driver problems happen to me. I had 3 people roar past me, only to cut in front of me to turn into a shopping area causing me to come to a stop each of those three times.

68.1 MPG / 11.0 Miles home to work.

82.3 / 10.7 mi - home last night with at 16mph headwind.
70.2 / 12.5 - this morning, home-school-work. I got caught up in some bad clusters of traffic in just the wrong places.

Since the lower mpg morning trips are longer, I have to make it up even more in the afternoons. I'll need 96 mpg to average 80 for today. NOT LIKELY, since I've never done that on the afternoon route.

The tank is down again, to 79.3 / 906 miles and just below 1/4 on the gauge. 900 miles and still going. :D

I continue to slowly but steadily ruin Teresa's life time average by crossing the country 2-up with heavy luggage, on freeway. I don't expect that many of these trips in the future (we'll just going to visit relatives after we got rid of the flat/house/garage).

Had a short ride in the cold morning too, I saw hoar out on the fields when we went to sign a contract with the local farmers who rent some land shiNIN inherited. The whole trip was 8-10km long and had to stop twice for more than a quick FAS... it surely didn't improve the overall FE...

It was pretty cold on the way back too, we started after the sun set and when we arrived it was 7C (44.6F) - yet my the left glove somehow managed to fry my hand a bit (it worked a bit too well at a steady 4000rpm - 100km/h - 62mph)

And the tripmeter was playing tricks with me. It happened twice that the piston stopped at a position where the automatic decompressor can't work well and it's hard to start the big single - and the starter drew so much power that the tripmeter reset to the point where I turned the key... (at least this is how an f650.hu mate explained the phenomenon)

According to google maps I lost 6.2 and 0.8km at these occassions so I counted these in. I don't know what about the odometer but I don't really care if I take her to the 70k service 7km later... but according to my earlier experience, it's not affected anyway (last year I lost over 100km at once so it would have been pretty apparent).

If it happens more than a few times a year I'll consider equipping a gps just to keep track of the distance correctly - but I don't really like the idea as I'd inevitably forget about it and it would get stolen :o

The tanks are: 3.00l/100km (78.4mpgUS) and 3.59l/100km (65.6mpgUS)

The usual nice tank, nothing special but it's heartwarming to see my baby doesn't drink more than in the summer...
83.3MPG for 296.4miles
(2.82 l/100km for 477.0kms)

Mainly 1-up for fun, nice scenery, sunshine, I never drove fast and 40mph was typical on little curvy bumpy roads.
Alvaro started the tank, 2-up and a lot of heavy books, night, rain, whatnot - but Ciliegia (my bike) isn't so sensitive to the cold and the speed wasn't high... especially on little roads with Ciliegia's weak lighting. I rarely ride in the dark and always with Teresa in front of us... But we will try to do something about it, I started to make little tours by myself (sometimes I wonder where could I write something about 'psychological issues riding behind a hypermiler'...) and evening comes sooner and sooner...

From now on, Ciliegia will be the more fuel efficient of the two bikes for a while. Yay!
(Teresa is a hardworking one, used in the coldest hours of the day and she's sensitive to it. I ride my baby whenever and however I want.}

I'm sorry if I should have written only the facts... I'm not cut out for that kind of posts.

Went to a movie and out for food with some friends tonight.

I carpooled a friend who told me about his 1995 manual Honda Civic. He was telling me about how doing a "mild" Pulse and Glide (didn't call it that) technique helps him go further on a tank. It was very cool to hear from real life people about hypermiling.

The MPGs were terrible only 25MPG over 12Miles total with a bit more "spirited" driving tonight. :(

I used my car for the first time in awhile yesterday. First I got it smogged. Did you know that Toyota Echoes fit the California "high emitter profile"? I guess Toyota skimped on emissions control equipment. In the results for my car at 1600 rpm, HC was 37 ppm out of a maximum allowable 71 ppm (average car has 9 ppm), and NO was 233 ppm vs. the limit of 511 ppm (57 ppm for average car).

Since I was driving anyway for the smog check, I used my car for a few errands. Normally I don't use my car around town. These were a few very short trips between 25 and 41 MPG.

Later on I picked up my uncle from the airport, met the rest of the family for dinner, and stopped by my parents' house on the way home.

Home to airport: 51 MPG over 16.6 miles. This was only possible because I discovered a nifty alternative route to the freeway involving windy roads. It was rush hour so traffic was bad on the main road. My detour only added 0.2 miles. Starting with a warm engine also helped.

Airport to restaurant: 55 MPG over 25.3 miles. My uncle was impressed.

Restaurant to parents' house: 45 MPG over 10.6 miles.

Parents' house back home: 52.6 MPG over 36.5 miles. I got really lucky with light timing, and coasted through a 1.2 mile downhill stretch with 10 traffic lights.

Just had to go finish an inventory today and had a long drive, typically I get 55 MPG there and right at 60 MPG back. I have made a couple mods, passenger side mirror delete and a grill block. I couldn't believe how well things turned out.

66.3 MPG / 66.4 Miles home to armory
69.9 MPG / 66.3 Miles armory to home

That is almost a 10 MPG improvement both ways!

Did you felt your car behaving differently ?
Per example with my rear wheel skirts I can feel the car accelerating faster and it coasts looonger.
