Well I didn't know where to put this one.

I'm driving along this morning on I-79 south of Pittsburgh when I see a SUV coming up on the left to pass me. He wasn't doing anything wrong but something didn't look right.

Since I was parked in the right lane at 55 mph and the speed limit was 65 mph lots of people were passing me.

So I'm looking in my side mirror and I can't figure out what was wrong with this picture.

SUV with yellow/Orange safety light bar on the roof. OK what is wrong with that? Then I noticed when he was within six or seven car lengths back the empty flag holders on either side of the light bar. Ah a Wide load escort vehicle.

As he passed me I immediately realized what was really bugging me when I saw the front door lettering and the make and model on the back end.

The company was using a Cadillac Escalade as an escort vehicle for wide loads on the highway. Unbelievable

If it makes you feel any better, last week I saw a Prius being used as an escort car. Unfortunately they weren't using a low profile light bar, though.

It surprised me to see a Carny type guy with two full sleeves of tatoos getting in a Prius!

the thing is...you could use ANY car to do the job...and they chose one of the most wasteful.

Not only wasteful, but the super-extra-expensive version of it as well.
