The SMART Electric starting at $40K.

HOLLYWOOD, CA - Hybrid Technologies, Inc., emerging leaders in the development and marketing of lithium powered products worldwide, is pleased to announce that one of the world’s most popular magazines, PEOPLE, has featured the ever popular Hybrid produced lithium Smart Car in its February 19th issue.

The coverage, a record for Hybrid Technologies with respect to the sheer size of its audience, is due to both the A-list celebrity interest in the highly advanced lithium vehicle and to the American audience’s growing interest in the electric vehicle movement. With page views reaching over 26 million a day, PEOPLE magazine clearly represents the pulse of the American and international popular culture.

PEOPLE is a weekly American magazine covering celebrity and human interest stories, published by Time Warner Inc. As of 2006, it had a circulation of 3.73 million and revenue expected to top $1.5 billion. It was named "Magazine of the Year" by Advertising Age in October 2005, for excellence in editorial, circulation and advertising.

The all lithium Smart Car produced by Hybrid for NASA under a Space Act Agreement has been released for public purchase and is attracting significant worldwide interest due to the range of 150 miles on a charge and the low cost, starting at 40k. For more information on how to purchase an all lithium Smart Car, click here (http://www.hybridtechnologies.com/smartcar_order.php).

Holly Roseberry stated: "PEOPLE magazine has a far reaching demographic into the tens of millions. This month alone we received a great acknowledgment from the President of the United States George W. Bush and now PEOPLE magazine. This type of recognition not only helps the company grow but also shows the world that this industry is here to stay. All lithium Smart Car units are produced in Hybrid's Mooresville plant.”

Seems like the eco-movement is slowly itself becoming a "brand" that can be marketed. Wouldn't it be interesting if the forces of marketing, advertising and promotion used their vast knowledge of psychology and tactics to change consumer's habits to benefit the environment (as well as their corporate wallets)?

Can't wait for an article on "eco-driving" appearing next in People. :D

I'm confused; this "Hybrid" car company makes electric cars? There website list many vehicles, but descriptions are limited.

And they are currently available? Again, website is sketchy.

Thanks Wayne, I did spend some time looking through their website.

It's pretty, but doesn't have much content.

It appears this "Hybrid" company has many electric vehicles, but not much info on them.

Like I said -- sketchy.

I have always liked the looks of the Smart Car. If I could afford 40k for a car, I WOULD consider this one!

Hi Noflash:

___Don’t you know you are supposed to send $40K via Western Union to an Office in Nigeria and then you will get a 1 page pdf on the specs and where to pick up your SMART :D

___The thing is this company is gutting a SMART to install an all electric drivetrain and Li-Ion pack with huge range for a price that almost seems relatively reasonable vs. the major OEM’s that cannot seem to get out of their own way to build a PHEV on one of their current platforms?

___I would like to know the pack specs, whose cels are being used, charging specs, power output and verification that it is street legal.

___Good Luck

A 3 or 4 passenger EV at the same price would be much more successful. Given my family situation I would have to wait 'till then to consider an EV. A conversion of an old Saturn or Civic with lead acids continues to tempt me....

add 2 more doors in a hatch config and the ability to lease iam so down! I'd also go for the 120 mile upgrade because that gives you more "battery soc range" to mess around with when hypermiling this toy for maximum battery life.
