It's the last week of August!

I induced a 12V disconnect recal when I got home on Friday to see if it would change assist behavior in the Insight... All that happened was significantly lower mileage while it charged this morning, though. :(

77F (75% humidity), 12mph headwind from the S, overcast:

90.0mpg for 14.9mi (Home to work)

The tank is now down to 109.5mpg over 1155.9mi with 6 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Interestingly, the car now seems to favor 20 bars SoC? I have to decide whether I want to throw away more fuel in an attempt to chase down this "problem" (no more than 5 bars of assist if the pedal is floored ) by running through the more aggressive "idle at 3500RPM" relearn procedure. I don't "need" the assist but the fact that the car doesn't behave like other Insights (so I'm told) does put a question mark in play.

90.7 mpg this morning. The tank is up to 82.9 mpg / 98 miles. Still well above F.

Monday morning fog in the head, though. Humph.

It's the last 2 days of summer. :(

We had our usual 2-up east trip on Friday-Saturday (it's almost like a commute for us just it's 240-300km long one way, mostly main roads this time), and the tank having this trip came out surprisingly well: its average became 2.666l/100km = 88.2mpgUS. In spite of riding 2-up, much on level roads!

While we were there, a sudden change in weather happened. We travelled there on a dry, sunny, hot summer afternoon (temp was over 30C = 86+F); the way back began in slight rain, then it stopped but we got sidewind instead, and the temp dropped considerably, to ~16C = 61F. Today morning it was 6-9C (43-48F) while I was coming to my workplace. I'm curious what FE I'll get with this tank.

From traffic status this morning, summer is gone... :( but it's remaining one month to summer challenge :)

odo currently at 1792km = 1113mi. I resisted yesterday and this noon to go behind the steering wheel only to drive enough to beat Andrew and fill-up the car... Hope the traffic and colder temps (22°C=71°F instead of 35°C=95°F) will not make me empty the tank before filling-up on the way back home. At least my FAS kill switch should help me to save drops, drops, drops...

:p Good luck on stretching that tank. Wayne still has me beat with a diesel, and Sean with a hybrid. Maybe you can get the best diesel tank, though. http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

Lunchtime errands. I had to buy a trap for the armadillo that's tearing up my garden.

76.7 / 5.1 miles - first store, nothing in stock.
85.6 / 0.6 - second store, got it. On sale, even!
95.6 / 4.9 - back to work.

Andrew, I'll do my best at next tank to beat Wayne's record.

Last year I did a 68.74MPG in September while the record was then at 69.06.

I have to improve from my last 72.34MPG to 74.89 to reach Wayne's record with same amount of fuel, or 73.81 with the maximum fuel amount I already filled-up. With the brand new kill switch, my pumped-up tires and my wife forbidden to touch my car I hope to improve by more than 3.5%

At least I'll have a lot of fun :)

Denis.

Go, Denis, go!!! :woot:

Looks like I really shortchanged this work route of mine. I just blew away my last PR (set last Friday ) by a solid 6.4mpg :D

90F (95F heat index), 18-28mph tailwind from the SSE, sunny:

115.6mpg for 15.3mi (Work to home -- Boo-ya! ;))

The tank is back up to 109.7mpg over 1171.3mi with 6 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Day Total: 101.2mpg over 30.3mi

That day total is lousy, but I guess that's what I get for forcing a recal today.

The drive in was once again tough...38.6 avg over 77.6 mi. Trip home was 46.2 mpg avg over 79.4 mi.I didn't do to much once again because people are just plain stupid and follow so close. I don't want to be the reason someone rear ends someone else or me! What a spread! I got my ebh figured out it was a faulty egg timer the cord was hooked to so we will see if it will kick off a good run in the AM for me.

I'm curious what FE I'll get with this tank.

It became far worse than the last four... 3.23l/100km, 72.7mpgUS.

Well, a couple of factors for the drop:

lower temps
some wet roads (it was raining again yesterday afternoon, while going home)
Because of these I literally feel her coasting worse, today it needed an extra start to park because my usual momentum ran out before I could turn in the parking lot
Some sidewind - also annying...
More weight: ~80-90% 2-up instead of the ~40% of my last tank; I also loaded the topcase full of books...
Lighter traffic: the way back was on a Saturday evening instead of Friday afternoon, when the slower flow let me go slower too and P&G a bit more :D It's true though that then I slowed down because of the darkness ;)

I've got rain here, too!!

68F, 7mph headwind from the S, raining with a fair amount of standing water:

88.1 mpg home, with a strange gusty side-head-side-tail wind.
83.2 this morning. Stupid traffic. *

The tank is at 83.5 / 130 miles.

* example: Approaching a red light with about 20 cars lined up. I'm maybe 5 car lengths back, rolling slowly. I get a honk from behind to "hurry up". ??? Of all the times someone has honked at me, that's the LEAST reasonable one yet.

Using the wife's car for today since my ZX2 is out of commision for the time being. Her Mazda 3 surprised me with 50.5 mpg over 40.3 miles. But the SG is still calibrated to my ZX2 so I don't know how accurate that reading was.

LinuxGold: If you paid with a credit card and can remember how much you paid per gallon you should be able to figure out how many gallons you pumped from your credit card statement. I have had to do that before. Luckily I remembered the price per gallon and the mileage.

I got side/headwind and rain yesterday on the way home.
Side and sometimes tailwind this morning (sidewind is the most usual at the open places on my route).
Plan to fill up this afternoon (yesterday I hated the idea of stopping because of the rain and thus connected heated gloves), will check tire pressure too (temperature change can surely affect it).
Will have the 'checkpoint data' about my FE since the last low fuel light too on Monday.
And I hope I won't get more rain today, I couldn't run a third loop on reserve.

137 miles with over F on the gauge.

Drove behind a slow semi and a car following. P&G'd behind that car @ 40-60 mph. Massive cars piled behind me. When car drove out, I sped up to the semi, maintained P&G. Then semi drove out leaving me STRIPPED in front, the driver behind me was glad that semi drove out of way then SPED up behind me, tailgating, then got frustrated. OOPS, a hypermiler EXPOSED this morning. =P

What happened?! That first mark is about 67 mpg, but the second one is all the way down to 55. Not that 55 is bad, but...

257 / 3.8 gal = 67 mpg
336 / (3.8 + 2.3) = 55 mpg total
