According to Hybridcars.com Madison is #1 when it comes to the popularity of hybirds in Midwest metropolitan areas.

Based on year-to-date registration figures through September 2006, Madison is #15 out of all areas in the US, and it is the only Midwestern area on the list.

2.68 hybrids per 1000 households.

Take that Chicago!
And you Minneapolis!
You too, Milwaukee! :D

It would be interesting to find out the figures for other towns such as Dallas.

I've travelled to 46 states and 4 Canadian Provinces (+ internationally), and Madison is at the top of list of favorite towns. When people ask me if I could live anywhere, I always respond with Madison and sometimes get a blank expression. It's a beautiful town with friendly people, excellent healthcare, education, and the scenery is awesome. I know Winters can be "less-than-ideal", but IMHO, it's better than the heat. The fact that Hybrids are popular there only stresses the likeability. Keep up the good work (and hopefully those property taxes will go down)
