How is the U.S. going to achieve energy independence and how can investors profit from the development of new replacements for oil? Our three guests closely follow the latest developments in alternative energy. They’ll be telling us where to place our bets during the coming years.

Bill Paul, an Energy and Environmental Journalist whose latest book, “Future Energy: How the New Oil Industry Will Change People, Politics and Portfolios ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FFuture-Energy-Industry-Politics-Portfolios%2Fdp%2F047009642X%2Fsr%3D8-1%2Fqid%3D1168655021%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks&tag=consuelomackw-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325)” should be a consideration for those interested in the future of energy consumption and our ability to become independent from oil.

Glenn Wattley, Managing Director, West Bay Energy LLC.

Mike Mike Millikin, Editor of Green Car Congress (www.GreenCarCongress.com).

The future energy expectations and conclusions are not only bright; there is “Gold in dem der hills” according to the shows experts and its contents.

A good overall view although the Coal guy was a bit Coal-centric with a disregard for GHG emissions as he did not even mention sequestration? I don’t believe he was considering the ramifications although the interview was so short, he may not have had the time to discuss it?

Thanks for the news Mom :)

There won't be any real change in American energy policy until 2008. Bush is an "End Times" cult-Christian who thinks God whispers for him to start unprovoked wars. So since he thinks that the Rapture is going to happen any day now, why should he feel the need to help the environment?

Likewise, Cheney is basically Darth Vader without the cybernetic augmentation. He cares about Haliburton and Big Oil.

There are far too many Big Oil (and Christofascist) Republicans in office who, hopefully, will lose their jobs in 2008.

So... What will change our energy policy is to have a sane president and a House/Senate that isn't owned by ExxonWalmartHaliburton.

Hi AshenGrey:

___You may have just gone over the top as you missed the point of the show completely. It doesn’t matter what any president or any government deem appropriate or otherwise. The Money is already moving and it is moving globally. If the US refuses to follow, it will be buried as technology and $’s cannot be held within a governments borders or technology vault. This has nothing to do with our current president or administration as the cat is already out of the bag so to speak.

___Good Luck

you're probably right. It's just been a really frustrating six years.

I don't have a problem with the points of view, but I'd greatly appreciate some of the speculation and emotionalism not be included with it. Places that do a lot of that tend to get out of hand with blow, counter-blow instead of presenting different views.
