I had to go to the tag agent today and reup the tag on the Civic. It pained me to have to basically drop a c-note on it. I had hoped to have it traded before I needed to do that. Driving it home yesterday the windshield wiper motor and gear set started making a funny noise. On the up sweep it is now making a noise like a spring exploded and on the down sweep it sounds like a snort from a pig. ( with me calling Arkansas home and being a Razorback fan I know how a pig snort's :)) And its not the wiper blades doing strange things. Its the drive unit. twang snort, twang snort. Just another thing to add to the list for the next vist to the Honda dealer. :(

Anyway,,, I took the Ranger to the tag agent to waist money on the Civic's tag and do my part for the Socialist base America is becoming. Got to tag the car so the money can be waisted on the welfare system or line somebody's pockets. Cause it isn't going on the roads, schools or State Troopers retirement fund like its suppose too..

So I jump in the Ranger and hypermile it the whole way of maybe 2 miles to the tag agent and back. I guess I could have given it to the tag agent (Lewis) himself. He lives behind me. And he could have droped the new sticker in my mail box. Those that went to Tonkawa would under stand. Okmulgee is alot like Tonkawa. Coming back from the tag agent I was fas'ing down the hill coming to my house. Careful not to exceed 25 mph. As I came to the drive way I decided to have some fun. No cars around. So I bump started it to have power steering. Then grabbed the parking brake release and stabbed the parking brake. Did a late pitch and slide then straighten up the truck. Remember the need for power steering and parked it squarely in the driveway. Its a technique used in the Rally World called a E-Brake turn. The wife just happened to be watching thru the living room windows. She started laughing so hard she fell over her own recliner. I came in the house and found her laughing in the floor.

I picked her up off the floor. She wiped tears from her eyes and gave me a big hug. She stated that was her husband she knows and loves. And went on to kindly berate me because of my hypermiling Ive done so much of as of late. Nothing bad... done in jest. But stated that I need to keep in practice with my other driving skills. And NO she didn't need to be in the car when I was doing so. Watching was enough.

Surprised the crap out of me. She went on to reaffirm the need to get a motorcycle. Something I can have fun with. Or possible building some sort of race car I can have fun with like my brother and friends of mine are doing.

My brother is building up a Fiat X/19 for his Autocross endeavors. He is still currently running his Mitsu Rally Art. But the Fiat is coming!

Another couple we know races. He started out with Pinto in small body stock car racing. He has since moved on to modified and mini sprints. His wife now runs in small body stock car. A old rear wheel drive Corolla. And they have a hell of a good time.

I was really shocked by her out poring. I had to agree with her. Hell it means more toys for me! Man,, well this man cant live by hypermiling alone! Granted... I give FE driving a spot as motor sport. And I truly think it is a form of motor sport. But I need a release. I was raised in motor sport.

It started with bicycles. 20 years before BMX. I was busting Schwinn frames faster than dad could get the warranty done. After all they did have a lifetime frame breakage warranty. Of which they never shirked from. I also still own my first mini bike. A Honda 50 mini trail I routinely beat other kids on that road Yamaha mini enduros, Hodaka's and Honda SL 70's. I was taught to drive at a very early age. Worked with my father and his friends on prep work for autocross and hill climbs. Got to run some myself as a very young child. What a hoot! As I grew up I drag raced cars and motorcycles. Road raced cars and motorcycles. I HAD FUN!!!

Now I work my arse off and save gas. Have some nice fish tanks and a really nice office IMO with a slew of good computers. Bank some bucks here and there and dred the coming Monday. I dont even have fun making the college boys look like the over paid idiots a lot of them are right out of college anymore. Or 5 or 10 years out of school.

In our modern culture. Would be classified as depressed? Here take some drugs that are bad for your kidneys and liver. And go seek counseling. Its all over TV, magazines, buses, and such. Or go back to school,,, be something or somebody. A yes man maybe? None of that got me my bonus this year. Conform to the world you don't know. And don't really want to be a part of. Social engineering at its finest. IMO

I just found it interesting what came out of a simple E-Brake slide and turn today. The torment of tagging a car I really don't want anymore. And the release of the wife. That really kinda wants her bad boy husband back.

Hi Psy:

___Sounds like you needed a little distraction from the daily grind and by all appearances, you found it! Just don’t park the Ranger on the front porch the next time you come in a little to hot as your wife will be doing a bit more then LHAO :D

___My distraction came today as well although it was probably not nearly as fun as yours. I took my old 03 Corolla LE w/ Auto (EPA rated 29/38) out this afternoon for some segment driving with a brand new SG-II attached. It was my oldest sons B-Day today so he received a gift that will last him a lifetime … Or until OBD-III makes the SG-II obsolete. Anyway, the Corolla w/ an SG-II attached is like driving a completely different car all over again. Over 85,000 miles on her clock now but she still has some hypermiling left in her. My Wife and two sons are currently on a plane to Phoenix so maybe I will place a few more hundred miles on the old girl driving back and forth to work next week to see what she is really worth. 52.0 to O’Hare and 52.3 mpg’s back in 47 - 48 degree temps is not too shabby in my book …

___Good Luck
