I've had a 4kWh Enginer system in my 2004 Prius for about 4 months now. The only other modifications to the factory configuration is an EV button.

Today, while driving a short distance in EV mode, the SOC got down to 3 bars and I was unable to pull over and let the Enginer charge it, so it switched out of EV mode. A few hundred feet later, the red triangle and the check engine light came on, as well as (briefly) the EVS indicator.

I pulled into a parking lot and when I shut down, the engine coasted off, like it does if you turn the car off in neutral.

It started back up, and seems to be driving ok, but the check engine light is still on.

Could I have caused this by the way I've been driving with the Enginer? My current MPG in the last 50 miles is about 80. I will often drive the 2 miles to work and back in EV mode.

Welcome to CleanMPG!

A check engine light could mean literally hundreds of things....you need an OBDII such as Scangage to get the code...then we can start to make sense out of it.

If you have an OBDII, I'd read it, then clear it. If clearing it keeps the check engine light off, it may not be a big deal, but if the check engine light pops back on, you definitely have an issue.

Make sure to get the code.

If you're near an AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts, they'll read the code for free.

I just ordered an Equus 3030 ($59.99 from Street Side Auto (http://www.streetsideauto.com/products2.asp?brand=BDVW&partnumber=3030)). I'll report back when it arrives.

It arrived yesterday. The code was P0A92. I cleared it and everything is back to normal today.

So what does that code mean? I can't find much information about it.

That's because it's P(zero)A92. Search for that and you'll find lots of info.
