I just hit 20,000 miles in my '09 FEH and Ford recommends the battery filter be changed at that mileage. I've been hearing the battery fans lately which is not normal in my '09. My '05 FEH was also right at 20,000 miles since the battery filter was changed so I changed them both at the same time. The '09 FEH had the dirtiest battery filter I've ever seen after 20,000 miles and it was three times worse than my '05 FEH. The only thing I can think of is my '09 was at the body shop for two days a few weeks ago and they had to have ran the engine a lot from the MPG average drop I lost. At any rate, the battery filter is something I need to watch more often. The air filters looked normal and about the same in both FEH's.

Anyone with the '09 FEH find a real dirty battery filter? I'm also wondering if the battery control module in the '09 runs the outside vents more to cool the battery than the '05 FEH.
