I like the DashDyno I have, but my dad's Camry still doesn't have anything, and my dad driving tends to use 2 more litres per 100km driven than when I do, which in turn uses another 2 more than my Corolla. So I should get an ScanGauge or something for him, try to get him to improve.
But when left out in the winter cold for a week straight, DashDyno froze up so bad that the OBD firmware would fail to start until I unplug it, and then it'd fail to read the settings I have on my memory card, requiring me to enter everything again.
How well does ScanGauge take it when left in winter cold for a week straight?

Yes, I have two ScanGauges. The first gen one is in my Insight (which is garaged when not parked at work) while the second gen one stays in my Elantra (which stays parked in front of my garage most of the time... evicted by the Insight ;)). The only effect I've noticed is very slow LCD updates due to cold, but that will happen to any LCD at -20F. ;)
I seldom drive the Elantra anymore (mostly just when I need to cart my daughter around while the wife is elsewhere) so it sits for many weeks at a time in the cold.
I don't think you have anything worry about leaving a ScanGauge sitting out in the winter cold.

I have a scangauge in each of my cars and I can tell you that other than the slower LCD response you get when they're very cold, the things still work even at temps lower than -40C. No problem there. ;)

Mine has worked no problem at 20 Fahrenheit.

After flipping through the SG manual, the normal operating temperature is 0F to 160F (-18C to 71C). As long as the temperature doesn't exceed -22F to 176F (-30C to 80C) the display will return to normal operation when the SG temperature returns to the normal operating range.
