I have been invited to display my 2005 Insight this Saturday & Sunday (Dec 9,10) at Santa Monica Airport. (Barker Hanger) The event is Alt Car Expo, billed as the world's largest gathering of alt fuel vehicles. Admission is free. See www.altcarexpo.com

I'm leaving from Spokane, WA thurs pm for the 1300 mile drive. Cold temps may prevent a 90 mpg average, but maybe I will try anyway.

At the event, there is a free shuttle to the giant LA Auto Show (convention center) for those interested.

Tarabell, and everyone in the area, please come by and say "hello", it would be great to meet you and talk cars!

Billy - Not that I’m antisocial or wouldn’t love to “talk cars”, just too inundated with work and home issues recently to make it to the Expo (or even the LA car show which is only 4 miles from my house :( ).
You should have great weather when you drive down Friday. Hope you enjoy LA and have a safe trip!

___If you can break away for a few hours this weekend, this show sounds like it may be better then the LA Autoshow? I spoke with Bill this morning and he said it will include high tech FCV’s, BEV’s, and PHEV’s from all over the world. I asked that he take a ton of pics but Bill is into talking with enthusiasts (as he should be ;)) a lot more then taking pics. If you do have a few hours on Saturday, go over and say hi. You will know who he is just by the hot looking Red Insight he will be in wiping down for the 18th time of the day :D

Normally, nothing would hold me back and I’ll do my very best maybe combine some Christmas shopping or something. BTW in your free time try to visit the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica – it’s one of the best pedestrian shopping streets we have and just a couple miles from you.

Thanks, Tarabell, I will check it out! In just 30 minutes I am leaving from work, to drive south. My Insight is all fueled, clean, tires aired up, etc. I have GPS, Scangauge, and lots of driving patience, so maybe I can hit 85 or 90 mpg? The main problem is cold temps (24F tonight) and 10 mile per hour headwinds.

I will try to drive all night, till 4am is possible, then rest at an I-5 rest stop. (near Redding, CA)
