Kind of damages their pleas for re-instating the government tax credit, doesn't it?

well Toyota's argument would be, "for the air!" which is kind of true... more hybrids more clean air! I can't wait to see the day where all the cars stopped at a red light are hybrids and then everyone rolls down their window and experience the sound of other people's music.

Hi Rich:

___I believe in the tax credit for a ton of reasons but not when Toyota was playing games with Prius II supply while the dealers where receiving the tax credit for themselves vs. the consumer. Markups above MSRP I am speaking of. Having seen the Prius-II and HCH-II supply languish – just 100K Prius II’s produced again and the 50K HCH-II’s promised turned into < 30K supplied – maybe the tax credit needs a little restructuring of its own. If you (Toyota-Honda) have less then a 20 day supply, you (the manufacturer) pay for the consumer tax credit. More then a 20 day supply and the consumer still receives his tax credit but the manufacturer doesn’t have to pay? That would get these greedy minded managers from thinking about holding back supply on the halo car and allow the American consumer to receive the benefits of owning a low emissions/high fuel economy vehicle. All while not being ripped off by the local stealership as has happened the past 2 years with both Toyota’s and Honda’s due to this magical lack of supply.

___Let us see the manufacturers squirm if the tax credit $ onus is on them to supply these cars in quantity. I would have loved to see this as it would take the marketing out the marketplace while placing the American consumer at the head of the table instead of both Toyota and Honda and their dealerships at the head and we all act like dogs at the Thanksgiving day table begging for scraps.

___I just pushed the analogies a tad harshly but I was getting ticked off seeing this Toyota/Honda crap go on all over the country these past 2 years and the American consumer getting the shaft until just recently.

___Phil, can you imagine 15 + years from now when you pull up to a light or are sitting in a traffic jam and all the cars around are silently sitting there waiting for the light to turn or traffic to clear except for 1 or 2 older machines with the gas guzzling ICE’s still idling away. Everyone in the whole procession glares at those 1 or 2 individuals making him or her feel like the fool? I cannot wait for that day to come myself!

___Good Luck

___Wayne
