I've had a 1986 CRX HF, 1988 CRX HF, 2000 Insight 5-speed. As far as I'm concerned, the Insight is an aluminum CRX HF with a hybrid powerplant. To get the highest possible milage, the CRX HF had skinnier tires than the other two version of the CRX - the DX, and esp. the pocket rocket Si.
As I drive my six-year old Insight on a 25-mile commute on wet roads on the verge of icing up, I'm really happy about my Bridgestone tires gripping the road much better than the tires on the CRX HF did.
Think the stock CRX HF tires were Dunlop. You could count on slipping if the roads were wet. :( When they were replaced with Bridstones, they would have good grip when new, but eventually lose it with wear.
The Bridgestones on the Insight have never been a problem. Probably can't give these tires all the credit as the CRX did not have an anti-lock braking system.
