Just wanted to say Hi and let you boys know that some girls are way into Cars and even more into Hybrids! When does that Reflex come out? :p philmcneal 03-17-2006, 06:30 AM but yeah can girls get high mileage :0 I'm sure you'll prove us wrong;) krousdb 03-17-2006, 07:42 AM Hello from the Emerald City! Just wanted to say Hi and let you boys know that some girls are way into Cars and even more into Hybrids! When does that Reflex come out? :p Glad to have some variety here! Hopefullly you can inspire my wife.:D brick 03-17-2006, 08:01 AM Hypermiling is an equal opportunity venture :) Just yesterday a girl I work with picked up her new HCH II from the dealer. I've only been around this forum for a week and the information given to me has already resulted in a 12.5% boost in FE over my my last few tanks. Stick around, it's worth it! psyshack 03-17-2006, 09:12 AM Welcome!! Good info and peeps here,,,, enjoy. :D gonavy 03-17-2006, 09:19 AM a disproportionate # of female members at the 'other' hybrid site are hypermilers...and significant contributors. It seems a lot of them are also in FEH's, too- interesting. Chuck 03-17-2006, 10:29 AM Welcome to CleanMPG! :) tarabell 03-17-2006, 10:35 AM Welcome! and it's about time. Nice to meet you. tbaleno 03-17-2006, 11:16 AM Welcome. I think that since in general women weigh less then men (I'm guessing a 50lb savings on average) that god built them for hypermiling like he built birds with hollow bones so they can fly. Also, women tend (for the most part) to be lighter on the throtle and less agressive. I think they adapt easier and carry less bagage than men do when they try to hypermile. psyshack 03-17-2006, 12:50 PM Welcome. HAHAHAHA My wife being of small frame and body does indeed weight less than I. But thats where it ends. As for baggage I dare not look into that monster purse thing nor the other two bags that seem to acompany her to work and other activitys. Has for her small little foot... yeah right... She drives like a bat out of hell. She hyper guzzles. Chuck 03-17-2006, 01:10 PM I'll go so far as to say most reckless drivers are 20-30 something men, and of course my past remarks about the macho power truck drivers. I tend to think gender-related behavior disappears when one gets serious about hypermiling... philmcneal 03-17-2006, 02:22 PM at least your wifes can drive, mines too timid for the road ;( brick 03-17-2006, 02:54 PM I wouldn't call her "aggressive" but my girlfriend used to be really bad about speeding. We're talking 85-95 on a regular basis. Three tickets in just over a year calmed her down. tigerhonaker 03-17-2006, 06:31 PM Hello from the Emerald City! Just wanted to say Hi and let you boys know that some girls are way into Cars and even more into Hybrids! When does that Reflex come out? :p Well Hello; Nice to see you here along with Ms.Tara from Sunny California. I think you will really enjoy this Forum. We really try hard here to be "Informative & Helpful" to everyone wishing to improve their FE (Fuel Economy). Regards; Terry HybridGirl 03-21-2006, 10:31 PM Thank you for all the welcomes! I do have to say that I used to be quite the speed freak, 1/4 mile drags and auto cross mainly and I still have my little ZX2 when I want to play  but with my FEH I'm relearning to drive and accepting the fact that I don't need to be the leader of the pack, well at least not ALWAYS! I love my Electra (my 8 YO neice named her and then informed me that in 8 years when she's 16 I'll be ready to buy another car and Electra will be hers!) and so far I've convinced a co-worker to hold out for the Hybrid Camry to replace her older ice only Camry and another coworker picked up a Prius! Changing the world one person at a time! I hope and pray Bill Ford decides to make that Reflex, I would sooo love to have a Biodiesel Hybrid that is also SEXY! Look forward to learning from all of you and hopefully be able to contribute something back. xcel 03-21-2006, 10:54 PM Hi HybridGirl: ___Welcome to CleanMPG! ___Boy do I have a story for you! A young lass named Cynthia (Bill’s Insight owning GF) from your neck of the woods (Washington State) took Billy, myself, and Gary G to the woodshed in Gary’s FEH on our way to a Wendy’s in downtown Sebring from the Sebring Raceway last Saturday ;) A solid 50.x mpg!!! The best I could get from a 20 mile city/70 mile state route was 45.9 out and 46.2 back. Anyway, I just want to mention that when push comes to shove, females do quite well behind the windscreen of the FEH :D ___Another addition is Gary G has written the premier Ford Escape HEV hypermiling article for all. I am currently looking for pics as we speak to make it a spectacular read that I am sure you will enjoy very much. ___I will try and get the Sebring pics up later tonight including Cynthia’s 50.x scan gauge shot. ___Good Luck ___Wayne xcel 03-22-2006, 01:32 AM Hi Hybrid Girl: ___Here is the result of Cynthia Benson’s excellent first time behind the wheel of Gary G’s FWD Escape HEV. http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/504/Cynthia_Benson_50_3_mpg_Around_Town_of_Sebring_in_Gary_G_s_FEH.jpg ___This was really funny because Bill, Gary, and myself were busy yapping about CRX’s, TDI’s, Hot Mustang’s, and getting the most FE out of our cars and Cynthia blew us all away with a perfectly performed LGA to D to N to D and EV on her very first try. As soon as we realized what she had just pulled off, we all shut up and began taking notes ;) ___She currently owns a blue Insight 5-speed and has seen south of 81 mpg this winter in Washington state which is one reason for her FE prowess! Wow is about all that needs to be said. I can almost guarantee she will be in the 100 mpg club with that Insight of hers by mid-June at the latest … The FEH is not only a hypermiling animal, it is a lot of fun to play with too! ___Gary, thank you for letting Bill, Cynthia, and myself take the opportunity to drive your FEH for more then just a few miles. ___Good Luck ___Wayne tigerhonaker 03-22-2006, 07:22 AM some very serious "MPG" Figures=50.3. :D Fredness 03-21-2007, 02:25 AM If you see a White 2005 Focus in the far right lane doing 55 on I-5, that's me! Glad to see a "local" here! JimboK 03-21-2007, 06:41 AM I tend to think gender-related behavior disappears when one gets serious about hypermiling... Or completely reverses direction. For me, it's testosterone either way. It used to be about pushing the pedal. Now it's about pushing the MPG. My fiancee used to look at the speedometer to see how fast I was going. Now she peeks to see how slow. DebbieKatz 03-21-2007, 12:45 PM Welcome HybridGirl! Alright! Not only another female hypermiler, but a FEH driver as well :):):) We could be twins ;) I wouldn't consider myself *into* cars - I know the basics of how they work, my hybrid included, but not the heavy technical details. But that hasn't kept me from learning how to give these guys some competition in the FE department ;) I used to be a "Type A" driver, until I had to spend $2500 to replace the engine on my little red Tercel (now 3 cars ago) :( After that, I stuck to the speed limit & learned that people passing me was not some kind of a challenge. And now, thanks to the FCD & my (still sort of) new ScanGauge, I'm continuing to learn to drive for better & better FE :):) I thought I would miss my stick-shift (this is my first car w/automatic), but working for those mpg's keeps things plenty interesting :D vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
