Ive been driving the Accord more as of late. Reasons are many. One being Ive been working on the bumper cover of the Civic. And its worked out for the wife and I to ride in together and me keep the car for the day, insted of her.

I was able to post a 44 mpg tank with the Accord. My past best tanks were in the 41 mpg range. It takes some warmish temps and no wind to get up to that level. And alot of hypermiling. :)

One of the things that excites me about the Accord is its fasing ablitys. It just goes and goes and goes. As much as I hate the AT in the car. It does do a good job at helping you hold the rpms down when in a low load state. Its nice to see it lock the torque converter at 45 mph. Then one can slowly ease out of the throttle and maintain 30 or 35 mph at 1100 to 1300 rpm. The 2.4L I4 has the low end grunt to make this happen.

I cant get the Accord into the low 50 mpg range like others have done. But its a very easy car to hypermile into the high 30's and low 40's with some luck and skill. Driven right the car all by its self is good for smashing EPA! It just has to be driven right. :)

Indeed, Honda makes one heck of a family sedan! It really does take some effort not to achieve or beat the EPA numbers in one of these things. Just pray with me that they will pair the i-CDI with a stick when the time comes in '08 or '09. Sadly, I don't think I could trust their typical automatic offerings when paired to something with that much low-end grunt.

___I have to go back to Drive Accord and review some of the past tanks posted but I think you are the only other person that has blown out a 40 + mpg tank in one. That was some doing and congrats indeed! I think CleanMPG has created a monster out of you in fact ;)
