Right Lane Cruiser 01-11-2010, 06:21 AM Welcome back!!
11F (3F windchill), 5mph tailwind from the NW, overcast:
78.7mpg for 22.6mi (Home to work)
The tank is back up to 69.3mpg over 312.2mi with 13 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
PaleMelanesian 01-11-2010, 09:10 AM 24 degrees this morning, 6mph headwind, 61.4 mpg.
Tank is down a couple ticks to 64.4 / 602 miles.
The forecast is for warmer weather, which I welcome. My house isn't designed for sub-freezing temperatures. The heater has been running non-stop for about a week now, and we've still had to wear jackets indoors. :(
diamondlarry 01-11-2010, 09:17 AM With 12F this morning, I had 61.6 mpg for the round trip to my wife's work and back. I had 63.8 by the time I got there so overall, not doing too bad today. With temps this low, just thinking about touching the go-pedal lights up the ICE.:(
JusBringIt 01-11-2010, 09:30 AM 24F, it warmed up quite a bit here.
6.8mi @ 30.5mpg into work.

24F, it warmed up quite a bit here.
Wow. Texas was as cold as New York! And we've been colder than that for nearly a week.
Ophbalance 01-11-2010, 11:07 AM 36 F with 8 MPH winds
* 59.2 over 51 miles to work. Yay, that 20 MPH wind #@$#@$ just sucked last week.
JusBringIt 01-11-2010, 11:55 AM Wow. Texas was as cold as New York! And we've been colder than that for nearly a week.
I was shocked that you were that cold in Texax! It was hovering around 4F-15F until this morning I came out and it was like..whoa! It felt like the ice should have been melting, but it wasn't.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-11-2010, 03:05 PM Boy is it nice outside! Too bad the standing water and aggressive drivers wouldn't let me exploit it fully. :p
22F (15F windchill), 6mph head/crosswind from the N, sunny:
81.7mpg for 22.6mi (Work to home)
The tank is finally up to 70.0mpg over 334.9mi with 12 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

17.760 / 353.4 miles = 19.90 MPG (very cold Tank with avg temp of 27.7F) About 3.5 MPG lower than usual. :( (also changed my fillup number from 19.6% to 21.5% as it was under reporting by 43 miles)
gas station to school
19.9 / 2.6 miles
school to home
16.5 / 1.2 miles
daily avg = 18.7 / 27.3 miles
My name is Dakota and my tank is full ;) 4.0 miles on the ODO.
Die2self 01-11-2010, 07:24 PM well that take a 1% off of the life time avg and 0.1 from the MPG number.:o
Hopefully if can stick this out and not let it slip to much this winter and not damage the LTA (Life time avg).
Right Lane Cruiser 01-11-2010, 08:45 PM I know how you feel, Jason! Mine is slipping pretty badly. :(
diamondlarry 01-11-2010, 09:53 PM I would say that I had a pretty good day for it being the middle of January in Indiana. We made it up to 27F.
61.6 19.1-the stop at the coffee shop was short enough that the SG didn't reset the current trip and I didn't notice until we got almost to my wife's work so I just did a round trip number
64.6 9.4-to wife's work
60.8 10.5-back home to drop off wife and on to gas station-going to try Marathon fuel for awhile
103 .6-station to home
Average for today was 63.5 mpg. This tank took me 503.9 miles on 9.0 gallons for 56.0 mpg.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-12-2010, 06:14 AM Nice work, Larry!
4F (-7F windchill), 7mph cross/headwind from the SSW, overcast:
75.2mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is up to 70.5mpg over 357.7mi with 11 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
diamondlarry 01-12-2010, 06:25 AM With 12F and wind N@ 5 mph, I'm at 60.0 mpg for the 19.0 mile round trip of taking my wife to work. I forgot to note yesterday that when I filled up, the SG had reported exactly 9.0 gallons which was exactly the same as the pump after doing the fill-up shake for a few minutes. Oddly enough the calibration seems to change with the temperatures.
JusBringIt 01-12-2010, 06:59 AM 23F and tropical woohoo!!
6.7mi @ 39.5mpg into work this morning.
PaleMelanesian 01-12-2010, 08:19 AM All the way up to 50F yesterday! 69.2 mpg home.
This morning, 31F and hard sheet-of-ice frost. 65.6 mpg.

Taliesin 01-12-2010, 09:12 AM 23F and tropical woohoo!!
6.7mi @ 39.5mpg into work this morning.
I would kill for temps like that in the morning. We haven't even managed teens in over a week (unless you count negative teens).
Ophbalance 01-12-2010, 11:12 AM 36F at 10 MPH winds
* 52.0 over 6 miles to preschool... where I noticed my lower grill block was gone
* 54.9 over 17 miles to lowes (new grill block)
* 57.2 over 31 miles to work
I'm still seeing more degradation with wind, than temps at this point. Maybe it has to be below 25 F to really affect the mileage?
Die2self 01-12-2010, 01:00 PM I would kill for temps like that in the morning. We haven't even managed teens in over a week (unless you count negative teens).
It is coming back to you up there. It is suppose to hit 38 today here and in the 50's tomorrow:Banane01:
But so to are the strong cross winds for you from the south.;)
JusBringIt 01-12-2010, 02:30 PM 23F and tropical woohoo!!
I would kill for temps like that in the morning. We haven't even managed teens in over a week (unless you count negative teens).
Compared to what we've had, this is really good. It should get even warmer later on (30's ;)). I left a bit early this morning...but I don't think I'll do that again as it's still dark and FAS is severely limited at this time.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-12-2010, 03:05 PM It is SOOOO nice out there!!! :D
22F (10F windchill), 13mph tail/crosswind from the SSE, sunny:
88.1mpg for 22.5mi (Work to home)
The tank is now up to 71.2mpg over 380.2mi with 11 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
Day Total: 81.1mpg over 45.3mi
It's supposed to get warmer here too, but I'd take repeats of today without any complaint. :) The traffic was still pushy but not as bad as yesterday, and large stretches of the route were clear and mostly dry. Very enjoyable to drive on compared to what I've been dealing with recently.
Taliesin 01-12-2010, 04:00 PM It is coming back to you up there. It is suppose to hit 38 today here and in the 50's tomorrow:Banane01:

I didn't quite make it too us. It only hit about 30 today.
According to weather.com it is supposed to hit 40-43 tomorrow (zip code 65305 is where I work and 64019 is where I live).
My 6 am to 6 pm shifts aren't helping right now though. I don't get to leave until it is already cooling off.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-12-2010, 04:16 PM Using the two zip codes, your commute must be around the same distance as mine?

26.2 miles one-way.
Plus a half mile walk between parking at work and the building I work in.
Filled up last night. The news isn't good, but I still managed to keep it from being totally disgusting.
420.2 miles, 13.572 miles: 30.96 mpg.
Considering the temps and smow we have been dealing with here (I still can't park in part my driveway), I guess I can live with that.
PaleMelanesian 01-13-2010, 09:12 AM 65.9 home last night, 48 degrees. (woo!)
63.8 this morning, 30 degrees and frosty.

Chalupa102 01-13-2010, 05:59 PM Just got back from my vacation visiting family in Ohio.
Average temp was 27F for the trip home. Even though my engine was freezing cold when i started up, i still managed to pull a nice number with a lot of NICE-on coasting. For some reason it seemed that my car could coast a lot farther than usual tonight.
44.6mpg for 43.7 miles from airport parking lot to home.
Tank average is up to 44.7mpg now.
Ophbalance 01-13-2010, 07:04 PM Grr... wife had the car. 48.9 over 129 miles.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-13-2010, 07:29 PM I think I have to avoid the section of this route I added over the summer. It cost me a full 7mpg and a lot of time. The hill is not quite as steep, but much longer… :(

45F this morning and drizzle = 68.9 mpg.
Last night's drive brought the tank down to 64.3 and this morning didn't recover it. 683 miles and below 1/4 remaining.
This will be my 10th consecutive 700-mile tank, and my 15th consecutive 600+ tank.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-14-2010, 09:15 AM Way to go, Andrew!!! :woot:
Ophbalance 01-14-2010, 10:50 AM 36F-42F with 5 MPH winds
* 49.2 over 6 miles to preschool (wasn't able to P&G)
* 58.5 over 51 miles to work.
Two notable moments. I haven't seen this dude in awhile, but I ran across an MR2 sporting the plate 'ANALOG' again today. He usually floats between 50-60 MPH, so I tailed him for a bit. Only problem is, he doesn't really DWL... just floats between those MPH figures at odd intervals.
Second, some lady in an urban assault vehicle decided to merge without looking. I had nowhere to go to the left as a car was also in that lane, but I kept squeezing that direction... she managed to finally look once my hood started to close up on her quarter panel, and decided that maybe merging at that point wasn't a good idea... oy!
Chalupa102 01-14-2010, 12:37 PM ^Sorry to hear to about that lady.
Pulled off the the middle part of the lower grill block before i left so the car wouldn't get too hot. 34F with very little wind.
46.6mpg for 22.6 miles from home to the gym :).
41.6mpg for 22.7 miles on the trip back home. Darn road construction on the Pike caused at least a mile of stop and go.
The tank average is steady at 44.6mpg as of today.
some_other_dave 01-14-2010, 12:54 PM Latest tank: just under 40 MPG. The compressor at the station I filled up at was down (no ETA on repair), so I did not get a chance to check my tires. Yes, I'm lazy about them, sue me. The car tracks straight still, so if there is any loss of tire pressure it is balanced between the left and right tires.
Full radiator block is still in place. Use of FAS is somewhat limited due to concerns about the health of the battery. I'll probably get the battery checked soon. But the (slightly) longer daylight hours are also helping with that, because I don't have to use my lights quite as much.
I have about one more month of regular operation, and then my car will go into a significantly different operating mode. I am betting the FE will suffer, because I will probably be driving unfamiliar routes so I will have a harder time predicting conditions than I currently do.

It's actually not too bad considering the temps and having snow tires on. The grocery shopping trip is usually an mpg killer as it's into areas with more traffic. Sean probably understands all too well what heavier traffic means.;)
