View Full Version : HHO a possibility?
edwardb 12-24-2009, 03:50 PM Greetings,
Has anyone heard of HHO?
The write-up and videos are convincing that it does work, but they're asking a price of over $500, and if installed, up to 35 amps of current will be drawn from the battery / alternator to produce such gas.
It boasts of putting out up to 6L/min of HHO gas... enough to replace using gasoline altogether.
How about it? Pretty legit? Has anyone done this that can testify?
:o
Hi Edward:
___Total junk and I removed the links as it is spam to link a company like this.

Seraph 12-25-2009, 01:42 AM I wonder why people even bother with this crap anymore, should be plenty of articles debunking this **** *sigh*
Chuck 12-25-2009, 10:05 AM Why is it that many people get downright hostile to the idea of hypermiling - something that is proven to work, yet people are allured to fantastic claims of snake oil ads? Stuff like ads mentioned in this thread that for some strange reason has not been sold to Ford or Toyota, has not made the inventor a multi-millionaire.
worthywads 12-25-2009, 11:46 AM Don't tell me changing the way I drive is the answer, i like the way I drive, so sell me something i can bolt to my car that gives me what I want.
logan1881 02-04-2010, 06:19 PM my thaughts exactly. does it really work, is it worth the time or money. why not hypermile and use this technology. I want facts not people who hate new ideas.
some_other_dave 02-04-2010, 06:26 PM There are people who say that it does work. Practically all of them are trying to sell the HHO production parts. I have yet to hear any credible evidence that it works.

WriConsult 02-04-2010, 06:51 PM We're Americans. Taking a pill to get well appeals to us a lot more than living a healthy livestyle. Using technology to save fuel sounds a lot more appealing than changing our behavior. Living healthy lifestyles, being responsible, proactively avoiding problems? Sounds kinda French to me. ;)

The idea is not new, and in 40+ years there are ZERO studies by impartial judges that find it works.
severach 02-10-2010, 03:36 PM People that promote HHO are short on smarts and long on sales which allows them to gloss over the theoretical problems. Until someone credible comes forward with some positive results I won't waste my time on it.

Here is the dead giveaway. Using HHO gas to produce power and more HHO gas is what is nicknamed perpetual motion. Just remember that no matter who in the universe finds perpetual motion first, they will be responsible for destroying it for the rest of us.
Large scale energy sources with almost zero cost may be possible but it seems unlikely that HHO with all its inefficiencies will be one of them.
PaleMelanesian 02-10-2010, 03:40 PM basjoos tried hho, and it cost him about 2 mpg (lower, not higher).
Hi All:
___EPA as well. Results, snake oil salesman received some money, the consumer got the shaft.
___We know one way to double the EPA and it doesn’t cost a dime! What in the heck could it be??? :D :D :D

sidfreak 04-15-2010, 10:38 PM HHO is definately good for cutting torches and its a blast to make and put into pop bottles and blow them up in a fire, but not likely going to be the wave of the future. But Severach is wrong when he says its perpetual motion. That means that no fuel is consumed, but the fuel is water, and if u run out the engine goes dead. Hydrogen is a very combustable gas and is being used as fuel in many places, including cars. In conclusion.....all that crap on utube is snakeoil, hope that helps.
Right Lane Cruiser 04-16-2010, 06:35 AM Sid, he isn't wrong about the perpetual motion bit. If you get more energy out than you put in, that's the basis of a perpetual motion machine. Put the theoretical energy producing HHO mechanism into a closed system. When you combust hydrogen you get water. Feed it back in to the system with excess energy and you can split it, then burn it again... producing more water. Use the left over energy to turn some wheels and there's the magical perpetual motion machine.
