.....Wayne G. of Wadsworth, IL has started a new business, "Xcel's Green & Clean Cabs". An initial purchase of 5 factory new Toyota Prius II's will provide the transportation.
In keeping with local mandates, Wayne has submitted a detailed business plan model to Lake County, IL officials. The intent is to decrease dependance on fossil fuels. To this end, the plan calls for several proposals unheard of in the taxi cab industry.
1) Taxi customers must weigh less than 200 lbs
2) Only 1 small carry-on bag per person
3) No talking while in Stealth Mode
4) Keep the windows closed
5) heat in winter is OK, but no summer a/c
6) for reduced drag, no taxi sign on roof of Prius
7) bring your own MP3; car stereo eats up juice
8) plan on arriving at the airport 20 min late, we drive slow
After reviewing the model, county officials have voted to grant Wayne a temporary business license & operating permit, with the following restrictions:
a) No more than 62 lbs of air in each tire
b) No more than 10 cars lined up behind you, honking because you're too slow, will be allowed.
c) conserving momentum is ok, but 6 circles in the parking lot is the max.
d) No soliciting pedestrians for a push-start
e) brakes must occasionally be used
f) must bring car to a complete stop before loading passengers
g) mileage logs submitted to "Tour de Sol" must not be overly optimistic
h) passengers may be carried no more than 35 miles out of their way when choosing a route to pick up a favorable tail-wind.
Wayne has no shortage of applicants for cab-driver positions. In fact, they are pouring in from all parts of the USA and Canada. The word is, experienced fuel efficient operators ONLY need apply. And, can you believe it, so many rules & regulations!
