Another week closer to Christmas!

I'm working from home today as my wife's schedule has gone all topsy-turvy for the day and someone has to take care of the little tyke in the morning.

That's awesome that you get to have some daddy/daughter time.:) I don't get that as much as I'd like anymore.:(

I had 36F this morning and the wind is SE@ 5-10 mph. The daily average is at 65.9 mpg.
68.3 9.3
63.6 9.3

It looks like my Enginer kit may be delayed a bit. I don't own a credit card and the purchase price is over my debit card's limit. i will have to write a check instead. This is probably a blessing in disguise though as I heard they are coming out with a new cell balancer soon.

Nice weather - warmer this morning at 51F. Humid and foggy, too. 73.2 mpg / 10.7 miles.

The weekend was not so good, with some rain. The tank sits at 66.6 mpg / 546 miles. 530 was the 1/2 tank mark, for a projected possible 800-miler if I push it that far. Not a record by any means, so I'll likely fill sooner.

So far the day is going well. Temps right now are up in the low 40's with very little wind.

43.8mpg for 23.4 miles from my house to school. Could have been better if i didn't hit bad traffic coming off the ramp to the toll booths.

38.9mpg for 8 miles from school to the gym and 40.1mpg back to school.

This tank is at a sad 40.8mpg right now and on the way home i'm gonna have to get gas. Hopefully i can bump it up a little on the drive there. I guess it's not horrible given the bad traffic and snow last week, but i'm hoping to at least break 41.

Nice, Andrew!

As you'll see below, I didn't have anything approaching your temps at all. You beat my day average handily this time!

12F (-3F windchill) down, 13mph wind from the NW, overcast,
12F (-1F windchill) back, 10mph wind from the NW, overcast:

60.8mpg for 3.7mi (Home to doctor's office)
50.0mpg for 3.7mi (Doctor's office to home)

The tank is down to 81.5mpg over 515.9mi with 8 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Day Total: 54.9mpg over 7.5mi

Congrats on the win Andrew! :p. That said, this should be my last sad trip.

6.9mi @ 23.0mpg work to home. I'll go finish up my install. Hopefully I get up into the high 30's :). Winter is not very pretty here.

I see that I beat your daily average too but there is absolutely no joy in it since it looks like you had some very rough circumstances to overcome.:(

We hit a high of 43F and winds were WSW@ 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 mph. The afternoon also had some light rain with wet pavement.
68.3 9.3-to wife's work
63.6 9.3-back home
71.7 9.4-to wife's work

Average for today was 66.4 mpg.

A bit of an update on the Enginer kit: I got word today from Jack Chen that they will accept a check. And on the subject of the new battery balancer, there is no definite date and it's expected to be several months and free or low cost upgrades will be made available.

I am getting really tired of super aggressive drivers... particularly as I have less torque and no available road shoulders (covered in snow and ice, every last one) to dodge to. :(

Still cold, but getting a little warmer as the day progresses. Of course sundown is at 4:30... :p

to school for drop off and then to work>
- 11.7 / 1.4 miles (14F NW@13 wind didn't help either, head wind)
- 18.6 / 12.3 miles

home (a little later than usually, work)>
- 20.2 / 13.3 miles (24F NE@5)

it doesn't help that it take almost half the distance home to get fully warmed up

I ended up getting 65MPG on my way home yesterday. :Banane03: Tank is up to 55MPG. Don't know why, but every time I fill up it seems like the MPG are lower on the first couple trips and I have to work to bring it up for the rest of the tank. I try to stick with the same place for fuel, but I did just switch to regular to see how that will affect mileage.

PaleMelanesian
12-17-2009, 04:34 PM
I find the same - FE starts low and increases through the duration of the tank. I attribute it to weight - it's almost exactly proportional to the percentage of vehicle weight contributed by the amount of fuel. I'd guess your car would feel it more, being so light.

I was right that there was something weird about my last tank. The new, conservative offset I had dialed into my ScanGauge turned out to be too conservative indeed, and I filled up yesterday for 42.3 MPG, well beyond what I expected. It's my lowest tank yet, but given the traffic and weather conditions, I'm impressed. For example, I commuted a lot more on this tank, which involves a lot of stoplight-to-stoplight traffic. I also ended up driving a 40 mile trip in a severe rain storm and getting 9 MPG less than in the other direction, even driving at about 50 MPH!

From the gas station to a friend's house about 35 miles away, the ScanGauge indicated 51 MPG with a revised correction factor. Wow! It was actually 53 MPG when I got off the freeway about 5 miles from the end of the trip.
