Right Lane Cruiser 12-12-2009, 08:54 PM That depends upon whether or not you FAS. Do you have a MT? Even if you don't, turning your car off at lights with the headlights on will cause a drain on the battery... and the other lights do make a difference. With a ScanGauge you can see the voltage drop when you press the brake pedal and the brake lights are activated. lxmike 12-12-2009, 09:07 PM I think you might be able to measure some gain, but only if you have a scanguage and have had it and know your vehicle very well. gains would be so small that anything could throw them off. abcdpeterson 12-12-2009, 09:37 PM I have looked around for articles on LED lights for cars, headlights are a better place to look for increasing MPG. but even then the gain in FE is going to be so small you would have a very hard time trying to measure it. HowStuffWorks.com has a good articular on fuel use and DRL (Daytime Running Lights) (http://auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-efficiency/fuel-economy/drl-gas-consumption.htm) brick 12-12-2009, 09:52 PM Use caution if you are switching over to LEDs. There a lot of BAD LED conversions running around here and the light output can be absolutely terrible. You have to find the right components to work with your fixtures and with sufficient light output to be safe. Otherwise you are putting yourself at risk for the sake of questionable gains. From what I've found on the net, doing it right will run you three figures easily. I installed LED turn and brake lights on my Nissan Sentra 2010, but they would not work in the back. And if you replace one turn signal, you have to replace all of them. The hyperflash will burn out regular incandescent bulbs quickly. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
