We have a very responsible crowd here, so this thread probably doesn't have to be started. But that never stopped me before ;). For those living in the States, don't forget to vote tomorrow! It can be a PITA make time and it may use a bit of gas, but it's well worth it to make sure that your voice is heard.

I think the electronic booth I used is very prevalent across the country.

It's the one that ends with the American flag on a blue background.

I had a choice between electronic and would have done the punch card if it were to do again. Punch card is quicker and more conducive to those that don't do a strict party ticket.

Everyone vote for me! I don't vote because no one that runs agrees with what I want. Sure, they may say they do, but generally once they get into the system they become corrupt and all they want to do is stay in the system.

If I lose by 1 vote (mine) then I'll consider voting next time. A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.

If there is a candidate that agrees with your position then I totaly encourage you to vote. Unfortunately for me there is no such candidate.

I'm pro-life and pro-environment. Do I kill babies to save the world, or save the world to kill babies? I will work to bring about my viewpoints by my actions, not by picking the "lesser of two evils".

I wish there were more people like me that I could vote for, but alas, there are very few with my viewpoint that run for office. To all you that are fortunate enough to have candidates that agree with your positions I encourage you to vote.

Tom,

And for a very Long-Time I thought the two of us were on "Different-Pages". Man was I ever {Wrong}. ;) Very well written and "Worded-Post". I could have not said this better.

Thanks for Sharing what I already was thinking.

BTW, As Mr. Baleno has Pointed out in his Wisdom, Vote if you AGREE with any of the candidate's.

Did anyone vote for me?

I wish you were down in Texas - the choices here are below par with the national level. :(

Nobody will find candidates that agree with them 100%. You have to consider which one will do the better job according to your beliefs.

It is unfortunate that people can be tricked into believing that their vote is all about whether or not to kill a baby.

BTW, the topic of this thread was covered by a South Park Episode.

I'm not being tricked. If I don't agree with the candidates 100% then it means that they will be doing things in office that I don't want done and I will have enabled them to do that. Even if 95% of the stuff they do is good the other 5% that is bad is also MY responsibility if I help them get into office. All voting does is give legitimacy to those actions.

What would make me happy is if we could vote on issues instead of candidates. I believe they call that form of government a democracy. I wish we had that here in the states.

Actually, If I had my way we would be a dictatorship with me as the dictator ;)

If only some of you knew how the state and local politics affects me personally, you would wonder why I have been quiet. I will probably get around to discussing it, but suffice to say, nobody on the ballot is remotely close to the ideal candidate.

Not only voted, but helped to register new voters at another poll. My first time - I told them I want to come back:)

For whatever it's worth, if everybody had that mentality, nobody would vote.

There is no candidate that I agree with 100%. Among the many issues I have, a major one is the lack of separation between church and state. With a strong separation, elections would not be clouded with such non-issues as abortion and gay marriage.

I rambled on for a few paragraphs here but decided to just delete them.;)

Hi All:

___Voted and it looks like the House is back in Democratic control. Senate is still Republican controlled … by a few.

___Good Luck

It looks like the Democrats might take the Senate as well, assuming the current numbers stand in Montana and Virginia.

Yup. I think the senate will go with the Dems based on the whole trend of what happened.

I really hope that the fresh blood will do our country some good. It's possible that the opposite will happen and the whole thing will come to a grinding halt, but we'll see. Depends on a) how the Senate finally shapes up and b) whether they decide to act like adults or children when the time comes.

Hi All:

___I heard Polosi this morning speaking out about changing the current military’s civilian leadership at the top (we all know who she was speaking about). Not 2 minutes ago the local news cut in with the story that Rumsfeld was resigning … It is a start.

___Good Luck

Issues do get voted on at the local and state level, at least
here in MA, but most of it concerns stuff that few people understand
all the lawyer-only-grokkable ins and outs of and at best they're
just guessing based on what the TV has told them.
.
If they took the time to make this stuff actually *accessible*
to the commoner, they'd gain a much better view of the "will of
the people".

The avitar I've chosen for today is Borat as he mangles singing the National Anthem. Definitely not a kids movie, but very funny.

To echo what Hobbit said, many issues are distorted beyond recognition if left to politicians reducing it to sound bites.

Hi All:

___Little was I paying attention to the Senate races but it too went Democratic to my surprise.

Democrats win control of Senate (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15620405/?GT1=8717)
WASHINGTON - Democrats wrested control of the Senate from Republicans Wednesday with an upset victory in Virginia, giving the party complete domination of Capitol Hill for the first time since 1994, as NBC News reported that Democrat Jim Webb was the apparent winner.___Good Luck
