At least the Washington Bullets changed there name without bloodshed, that name must have offended all 3rd world nations. But then the Washington Wizards probably offends some morons too.

The University of Tenn. in Chattanooga had to change their name from the Moccasins to the Mockingbirds. They are still the Moc's, but it's not the same thing. All I see is someone trying to making a name for themselves with this issue! (Oh, I'm soooo offended! Please give me a spotlight and tons of cash to fight this injustice!) What's next, Greek decendants not liking the TN Titans? How about the "negative" connotations of the Dallas Cowboys? I got it! Bird lovers offended at the Falcons, Orioles, Hawks, BlueJays, and Seahawks!

Could the real objection be the Redskins can't even beat teams like the Lions and Panthers?

You nailed it Chuck, native american's all over the country are ashamed at the Foreskins.
In general a team is named for something that is tough and worthy of respect, i guess some native americans don't feel the same. I'm part native american but I take no offense.
Mockingbirds?!?! ooooh I'm scared.
