View Full Version : Can it Get Too Cold for Hybrids? Chuck 10-24-2006, 03:29 PM Reason I ask the question is another forum had someone inquiring on getting a hybrid....from Siberia. philmcneal 10-25-2006, 02:53 PM NAH, more like can it get too cold for normal cars!!! hybrids treat the winters like a joke... except the mileage ;) my solution is just to grille block, since it can hold the heat of the engine better and since hybrids don't use its engine too often overheating shouldn't be a problem... espically if the driver is going to keep his interior warm. tbaleno 10-25-2006, 03:02 PM One plus to hybrids is they generaly have very efficient engines so you can idle them a long time without burning much fuel. And trust me. that far north people are idling their cars over night. Chuck 10-25-2006, 03:36 PM Reason I ask the question is another forum had someone inquiring on getting a hybrid....from Siberia. He was wanting to get an Insight and his thread inquiry was locked :( (which is a strong hint of which site it happened) philmcneal 10-26-2006, 01:50 AM One plus to hybrids is they generaly have very efficient engines so you can idle them a long time without burning much fuel. And trust me. that far north people are idling their cars over night. when warmed up for me i burn .7 liters per hour (my civic with a 1.7 liter engine was .9) I guess that .2 displacement makes the whole difference!
