With all this work being done on ethanol and the reduction in purpose efficiency, aren't we in reality at a net loss for ethanol production?? --Ed.
Nebraska's ethanol industry has nearly recovered from the economic doldrums it faced last year and is back near full production capacity, according to the Nebraska Ethanol Board.
Another sign of recovery, according to Todd Sneller of the Nebraska Ethanol Board, is that Aventine could soon renew construction on its uncompleted 110-million-gallon ethanol plant in Aurora.
The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) reported that U.S. ethanol producers continue setting new records for production, as demand for renewable alternatives to gasoline grows. It points to a recent report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) that said American ethanol facilities produced 694,000 barrels per day in June 2009. That is up 109,000 barrels from a year ago.
Ethanol demand, as calculated by the RFA, continues to outpace production. According to RFA calculations, demand was 721,000 barrels per day in June, up from 633,000 a year ago. EIA also reports fuel ethanol imports of 29.5 million gallons in June.
An important indicator that the ethanol industry is recovering, Sneller said, is the... http://www.lexch.com/articles/2009/09/05/news/regional/doc4a9fd666d0c30909528789.txt
