Hi All:
___I did not really do any Sept. sales posts this month given I was in Oklahoma but I had the chance to look over some of the Honda hybrid and non-hybrid info and see a declining trend.

American Honda Vehicle Sales for Sept. 2006
Honda Division Total
||Month to Date|||Year to Date|
Model|Sept. 2006|Sept. 2005|DSR** % Change|Sept. 2006|Sept. 2005|DSR** % Change
Accord|27,759|33,884|-21.2%|278,422|292,398|-5.2%
Civic|26,331|30,165|-16.1%|251,543|233,838|7.1%
HCH-II|2,508|1,916|25.9%|24,349|21,022|15.3%
** Daily Selling Rate
___Mainly, Honda was speaking of 50,000 HCH-II’s for the 06 MY late last year and it appears they will be lucky to touch 30,000? This was with rising fuel prices all year too? The drop off in std. Civic sales in Sept. should raise some concerns as well? For a new model, seeing a drop off in any given month vs. the previous generation sales in the same month a year prior would make me nervous if I were a Honda exec. Picking up a well loaded 2006 Corolla LE w/ Auto for ~ $16.5K out the door vs. an MSRP for the 2007 Civic LX/EX w/ Auto of $18,355/$20,105 might mean Honda priced themselves out of the compact market a touch? Then again, Civic sales are up over the same period last year by 7.1% and I am sure Honda was blowing out the previous gen Civic at this time last year as well.
___Accord sales are off by over 5% YTD which is not really a surprise given all the comp heading there way including the new Camry. They had better be ready for something big for the next gen or Toyota will be eating there lunch once again given the Accord is there biggest seller. This is the second and maybe even third year in a row where there is sales fall off for the Accord. Accord and Insight hybrid sales are not even worth mentioning.
___I just have a feeling that the wheels are starting to come off at Honda while watching the month by month sales of these 2 important models throughout the summer months. I wonder if they sense this themselves?
___Good Luck
