I take possession of my new Saturn Vue Hybrid SUV in the next two days and would like to hear about anyone else who owns one.
I needed more space than my 2006 HCH and this looked to be the best option at this time.
Can anyone let me know of any problems I should look out for in the first few weeks.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Simmingt49:
___You will have the new NiMH pack as the first sets that went out were recalled. I would definitely consider an SG-II as the VUE is extremely lacking when it comes to feedback.
___Drive it gently and it will last a good long time. Drive it harsh and it will not give you the FE or longevity you would have hoped.
___Good Luck

The Vue is a mild hybrid, with a very small battery pack and a 5hp electric motor connected to the engine via a rubber belt. This motor takes the role of both the alternator and the starter that a conventional vehicle would have.
The most common complaints I hear about these mild hybrids come from people who drive 'em like they stole 'em. This mild hybrid design is best used for mild driving techniques. Drivers who stamp on the pedals like frustrated Riverdance performers usually complain about poor fuel economy and loss of auto-stop. This occurs when they use up the limited battery capacity assisting the engine during "flee from the police" acceleration, and then fail to get much regen when they stomp on the brake pedal and end up converting forward momentum into brake dust. Under these conditions, the battery charge can get too low to allow autostop to occur. And it will also limit the electric assist during acceleration, resulting in higher engine rpm as the wide-ratio four speed automatic holds lower gears to get the heavy vehicle moving with only gas engine power.
The Vue hybrid will respond to hypermiling techniques just as any other vehicle will. In fact, Wayne said it quite well above: Drive it gently (meaning hypermiling) and it will return the fuel economy and performance you are hoping for. Flog it like a rental car and it will disappoint.
