View Full Version : Hybridfest Green Drive Expo pictures
TheForce 07-21-2009, 09:07 PM I did not take any pictures or videos this year so I'm relying on you to post some pictures!
If you have pictures of my car please let me know.
Here is my one and only picture I took this year. You can click on it if you want to see the whole thing.

seftonm 07-23-2009, 10:39 PM I didn't take many pictures this year. Unfortunately, no photos of your car, Jay. My album is at http://picasaweb.google.com/seftonm/HybridfestGreenDriveExpo2009?feat=directlink
Right Lane Cruiser 07-23-2009, 11:32 PM Oh Dude!! You got to drive the Focus EV???
seftonm 07-24-2009, 12:29 AM Manuel was the lucky guy who got to drive it. Mike, Kacey, and I were passengers.
Right Lane Cruiser 07-24-2009, 06:23 AM Regardless, I am SO jealous!
MT bucket 07-24-2009, 07:03 AM great pics Mike! thanks for sharing them! :)
Xringer 07-24-2009, 07:45 AM Nice pics Mike! I see you got a shot of the world's longest spark plug too! :)

So, how long does it take to change the plugs in a FFH?
Depends, are you using power tools?
seftonm 07-24-2009, 11:42 AM Sean, that's one more reason for you to come down to HF in person ;) You're probably super busy with your daughter, working on this website, and a thousand other things, but it would be great if you could come for the weekend.
hobbit 07-24-2009, 05:40 PM Hee! This pic (http://lh3.ggpht.com/_DOGYFgXgyJQ/SmkmPPXJKDI/AAAAAAAAAsA/SdcTMBHJ6Q4/IMG_2476.JPG) of my car [and part of me] is hilarious.
.
I haven't even gotten through processing my own set, not that
it's particularly extensive...

Wayne and I drove it at NAIAS and I just wanted to meet it one more time, and give one of you three a chance to drive it. :) Manuel was the lucky one 'fo 'sho.
Right Lane Cruiser 07-24-2009, 06:46 PM Thanks, Mike -- I couldn't fit it in but I definitely miss interacting with all of you in person!
Al, that link doesn't seem to lead anywhere valid?
Kacey Green 07-24-2009, 08:09 PM I had to refresh and it worked, seems like a Google issue
seftonm 07-24-2009, 10:58 PM Hobbit seems to be trying to link to this one, with his feet sticking out under the door of his car:

One of my favorites:

Kind of looks like Kacey went and hijacked an "Owner of the hour" sign to become an owner of the hour. In reality, he just forgot the paper with his name on it. Kacey, any luck in finding your Zune?
Kacey Green 07-24-2009, 11:42 PM Yeah!, thanks, Jud had it and my owner of the hour signs.
He grabbed my bag instead of his own as did everyone's HF '09 bags. (I'm glad I had my lunch tickets in my badge)
Oh and the ride to Jud's, I didn't realize how much worse radio had become since I started DJing for one back in 2002.
psyshack 07-24-2009, 11:59 PM Hobit and his feet. Got to love it. :)
I always said " we buy a hybrid I will be there " But no way that could happen this year. And honestley,,,, I don't know if a HCHII is worth the trip.
Right Lane Cruiser 07-25-2009, 01:50 AM Hi, Jeff -- I'm pretty sure that if Manuel can make it from CN in his, yours can make it from OK. ;)
msantos 07-25-2009, 08:10 AM Hi Sean and Jeff;
Oh boy did I make it:D
This year I did the trip on my 2006 HCH, next year will be on my wife's 2010 Prius. ;)
However, while I suspect the experiences will be close, my HCH-II's performance on this type of trip will remain hard to beat next year by the new arrival. One more reason why I just love these cars;)
Here's one of the reasons:
http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/500/HF2009_PitStop_before_St_Pauls_IMG_1335_small.jpg
Took this picture at one of the rest stops just before reaching Minneapolis. I took a few more in subsequent pit stops but things only got better courtesy of the tailwind we had all the way to "Eau Claire". ;) (care to guess how much better?)
And here's what I had locked it in for the almost entirety of the trip ~750 mile trip. http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/500/HF2009_RoutineSAHM_IMG_1324_small.jpg
The return trip was also great but not as good since while a good tailwind was also present, I ended up hitting a nasty thunderstorm when reaching Fargo... and that kind of "washed" the good numbers down a bit.
Anyway, will I be able to obtain 70+ MPG over a complete ~1500 HF round-trip on the 2010 Prius next year, and loaded up as my 2006 HCH was (some of you saw I took a larger and heavy tent plus all other camping creature comforts - stove/grill, cooler, food...) ?
Maybe. But if not, don't be surprised if I repeat the trip in 2011 on my 2006 HCH again. :D
Cheers;
Manuel
seftonm 07-25-2009, 11:38 AM Hi Jeff, it would be great to see you and your car at HF. There really aren't many HCH's there so your car and yourself would be a welcome addition.
Kacey Green 07-25-2009, 11:17 PM I didn't have MSantos' tailwind but Irmo, SC to Wisconson on a single tank of unleaded was about all I needed to concern myself with. And Jeff you are a good bit closer to the place than Manuel or I, my route may be the only reason I had a hundred miles on him.
Linda 07-28-2009, 01:03 PM Jay, are you on Facebook? I saw one of your car there, I think!
Great to see you there again this year. I sure hope you make it to #5 next year!
diamondlarry 07-28-2009, 01:10 PM Very nice Manuel!
