To a new fuel economy record, that is! :woot:

39.0 mpg over 147 miles. Starting from my usual gas station in Columbia to outside of Hilton Head Island, SC. Including several complete stops in there.

I re-installed half of my grille block. This raised my engine temperature by 4 degrees, and my transmission temperature by 10. I think the transmission temperature had more impact than the engine temperature.

Either way, I'm happy!

Nice! I always love a personal best, I'm on my way to one myself. Great numbers too, way to show 'em what that 3800 can do!

Hi 99LeCouch:

___That is indeed an excellent long drive!!!

___Back in early 2000, I was fortunate to have a LeSabre w/ the 3.8L (IIRC???) rental. I took my family and relatives for a drive from Phoenix to LA in mid-summer with 5 in the car. The best I could do was something like 38 there and 36 back with A/C during day light hours so you pulled one super hot segment!

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Coming back today was 36.5 mpg. Heavier traffic and traveling uphill will do that.

It's a decent car on the highway.
