Wayne and Dan finally received their Money from the Tour Del Sol event.

All $1,500.00 Total for the two of them.

It only took 6-Months:

Nice to know that of all the money the event pulled in that they could spare it. Seems kind of paultry. I suspect the event will get a few less participants next year.

To me it looks like a money making scam on their part.

:Banane37: Yeah like in the Neighbor Hood of say $1-Millon Plus.

Yes; Wayne and Dan were the Winners and should have Gotten/Received about Double that Amount: :(

At least. For the shoddy treatment I'm half tempted to put that even'ts name in the naughty word filter just so they don't get any press from us.

:Banane37: I can see where you are coming from on that. They lack a lot in

Professionalism or Ethics (IMHO).

In their vague defense, I'll point out that every year they've
likely been in desperate need of funding to make the event happen
at all. Heck, just look at Altwheels -- to take the jump to being
on City Hall Plaza in the middle of Boston, higher visibility
and all, their working budget had to jump from 20k or so to well
into six digits. That took a *lot* of sponsorship grooming, and
I don't envy the folks who did that. Now, NESEA and Tour de Sol
have been around for quite a while and it shows -- a lot of their
gear is seriously road-beaten, they don't really have the $$ to
replenish/upgrade a lot of the stuff they use, and it's about all
they can do to pay the venue for the week of occupancy/use and
fund a few hotel rooms for staffers. That's still nontrivial cost.
.
My beef with them, and try as I might have this year to help fix
it I couldn't do much, is organization. You'd think that after
all these years of doing this they'd have it down to a fine
science with regard to coordinating volunteers and having rally
procedures set in stone and the like. I didn't see that. When
I went up to official folks with "okay, what's the next task"
I was often met with a vague guess. I brought this up at the
redux meeting a few weeks later and there was a fair amount of
lip service on the subject[s], but I don't know what else has
happened yet.
.
In the meantime, Nancy Hazard has stepped down as director and
it's completely unclear if the event will be continued by the new
guy filling her shoes. I haven't heard anything one way or
the other yet.
