Like me, many of you have probably noticed that gas prices have been leaping up in spits and starts in and around the Twin Cities of late. As we get closer to the $2.50 mark, I’m beginning to wonder if it will continue to simply rise like it did in 2008 and bite a big chunk out of our drought stricken budgets.
In retaliation I’ve been making use of the Cub Foods gas coupons for several years now, and recently they’ve been giving additional savings if you spend over $150 on groceries. The other day, with over 60c off per gallon in coupons, I saved myself more than 7 bucks on a complete fill up at a Holiday gas station. It all adds up, doesn’t it?
With the car companies still reeling from the financial crisis, especially our domestic brands, Toyota and Honda have banked heavily on the popularity of hybrids and according to information from www.hybridcars.com it’s paying off. The website confirms that hybrids are outselling most other brands, and Honda has been particularly successful with their remodeled Insight launched this year.
According to the article www.hybridcars.com/news/april-2009-dashboard-honda-on-move-25712.html an analysis of April sales confirms that the USA remains the world’s largest market for hybrid vehicles. Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York lead the way in total vehicle sales and Toyota holds a 56% market share over its’ nearest rival Honda with 25%.
