Hello everyone. I've been absent from the site for a little over four months but I'm back and ready to begin hypermiling in earnest once again. I'll have my first post-winter tank with the new Fit Sport up on the mileage logs early next week and will try to post each succesive tank. I've decided to forego the FAS for all but the longest coasts and am going a bit lower than max sidewall pressure with the tires. Everything else will remain the same. I will also do an anecdotal comparison of my "retired" 2007 Fit Sport and the 2009 Fit Sport at some point for those who may be interested.
A great week to everyone!
Brian

Thank you, Wayne; it's good to be back! I switched to the second generation Fit last November because I just really liked how Honda had improved on an already great little car. It also made pretty good sense economically for me, too. Especially when I coupled the cost I paid for the 2007 as a left-over and the residual value of the car with 28K on the odometer. Honda was also hurting a bit for sales late last year (though not as badly as now.)
And I will post (as stated) a comparison in the near future.
Thanks again,
Brian

Just curious, why the drop in tire pressure from max sidewall?

Edit: and welcome back!

The simple answer is a somewhat more compliant ride. I also (seemingly) developed several rattles in the dashboard area with my 2007 Fit with tires at max sidewall pressure. Moreover, it has to be les taxing to the vehicle's suspension over the long term. That being said, I don't suspect there are any really detrimental things occuring to a vehicles undercarriage with tires at max sidewall...
