View Full Version : Anyone attend the MS150? Dan 04-21-2009, 01:53 PM Any CMPG'ers attend the MS-150 last weekend? 11011011 mparrish 04-21-2009, 04:03 PM Hey Dan, My wife & I did it. Day one from Houston to LaGrange was cancelled of course. But we biked the 90 miles from LaGrange to Austin on Sunday. Nasty headwind from Bastrop to Austin. I might do it next year to try the full weekend of 180 miles. Marc Dan 04-21-2009, 04:18 PM Do you know if recumbent bikes are allowed? 11011011 mparrish 04-21-2009, 04:21 PM Dan, They are indeed. We passed two in East Austin. I believe ANY cycle is permissible. I didn't see any unicycles, but I know for a fact that unicycles are allowed and have completed the 180 miles. Dan 04-22-2009, 06:31 AM Found a long frame recumbent for sale and could be brought into working order for a fairly reasonable amount. Since HP has a team I should be able to get an invite to 2010. Will team Parrish compete next year? 11011011 mparrish 04-22-2009, 12:55 PM Will team Parrish compete next year? 11011011 I might. The wife is out though. I could have done the full 180, but it would have been painful. To avoid that I'd need more saddle time AND more time invested in comfort (seat, etc.). I may just do that, however........ I believe I'm running the Houston marathon in January 2010 with some Austin buddies. So marathon + MS150 may be a bit too much. We'll see. On the plus side, I get to run the flat H-town marathon after suffering through the Austin hills. So that's good. On the negative side, I have to run a marathon. haha. I'll be interested to hear about the experience if you do it with the recumbent. Also, while it is on my mind...............we donated money to the Jabboury foundation for cancer research. In exchange, we got dinner/massage/bed in La Grange instead of tenting it at the (recently underwater) ;) fairgrounds. It was an expensive, yet good way to go.............if you have the cash and want to limit the inconvenience and struggle to ONLY the biking itself. http://www.jabboury.org/2009_bp_ms150 vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
