Hello, I just found this site while searching for information pertaining to my new Ranger pickup. I got the 2.3 liter engine and 5 speed manual transmission in an attempt to get the best possible mileage with a pickup truck. We're still getting used to each other but the first two tanks have been over 26 mpg which is the hwy EPA estimate so I guess it's doing pretty well for not being broken in yet. I have a Scanguage II and I like the readings I'm getting so far. Just learning about the hypermiling techniques though. Anxious to learn more.

You have IMO the best truck for mileage sold in the US. And you are right that it will get better after the break-in period.
The EPA ratings for yours and mine differ slightly, but not by much at all.
Assuming yours is an '09:
Mine: 21/25/23
Yours: 21/26/23
You can look here to see what I have been able to manage, and I just recently got the SG.

There are a few others with Rangers on this site that do MUCH better than I am, but they have been at this for a lot longer too.
What I get can be achieved by just about anyone, as long as their commute isn't totally messed up.
Ask a lot of questions here and you will be surprised at what you can learn.

Very good choice on a truck. Slowhands will chime in as he is an experienced hand at getting north of 50 mpg with a Ranger.
