View Full Version : Latest 2010 Insight-II review up at TOV!
Hi All:
___TOV finished up on their Honda Insight-II review and is worth a look.
___It was nice to meet Jeff in person even if for just a few minutes last December.

___Thank for the find Dream'R!

Right Lane Cruiser 03-16-2009, 10:25 PM That was a surprisingly balanced and refreshingly fuel economy oriented review -- especially considering the sporty vehicles he prefers for daily drivers!
Harold 03-16-2009, 11:57 PM I agree! A very informative report. H:D
WriConsult 03-17-2009, 04:19 PM Good review. I hadn't noticed before that there are some surprising omissions on the LX model, like cruise control which is almost always offered on Honda LX models. The lack of seatback pockets and map/glovebox lights is pretty cheezy for any non-entry-level car in today's world.
Fortunately I don't use cruise and there are good aftermarket alternatives for the other omissions, so I could gladly live with the LX and skip the extra expense and bells/whistles of the EX.
philmcneal 03-17-2009, 04:33 PM between 2nd place and 1st place in the fuel economy challenge, what was your time Wayne on arrival out of curiosity?
lightfoot 03-17-2009, 04:46 PM I just wish more auto reviews were written with this much perspective and clarity.

PaleMelanesian 03-17-2009, 05:05 PM First time around I missed that there were multiple pages. :o
It most definitely IS a good, balanced, and thorough review. Good find.
brick 03-17-2009, 05:21 PM You know, that's starting to sound like an excellent little car.
PaleMelanesian 03-17-2009, 05:27 PM Earlier I was lamenting their decision to bundle cruise control with the EX trim. Now I'm not so sure. I have one on my car, but the last time I used it was about 2 years ago. I think LX would work for me.
It would be nice to have when others drive it, though. Just press eco and the car semi-hypermiles itself.
Sunin 03-17-2009, 07:28 PM Eh considering the 2006 insight manual version hits above 100mpg I'm not all that impressed. I'd like for someone to do that same course in a 2006 Insight and record their #'s.
Hi Sunin:
___See the CleanMPG 2010 Insight-II review (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18649) but it was a CVT based 06 Insight. It hit 83.4... The stick would have hit maybe 95 to 100 on the same FE Challenge course more than likely.

Hey, I was referring to the mainstream glossy and newspaper guys, not you. They're always trying to posture or write from some odd angle. Your reviews are excellent, balanced, and fair.
ksstathead 03-17-2009, 07:54 PM Be interesting once xcel can talk about the P-III, how the mpg for cleanmpgers is likely to compare between the P-III and I-II in various driving situations. But if the TOV guy can get 71.x at the speed limit just driving it conservatively, we should at least get around that... Wow. 78.x for xcel on the same course. Awesome.
msirach 03-17-2009, 11:19 PM I'll be anxious to see what the DW will do in the PIII. In the PII, she fluctuated from 42 to 46mpg. One tank this winter tanked near 36mpg. She was started the car and letting it idle for 15 to 20 minutes.
