Does anyone know if the drag coefficients/frontal areas are significantly different between civic sedan and coupe? I know the coupe has a more steeply raked windshield and two less door seams to contend with but some sedans can be more aerodynamic than their coupe counterparts.

Hi Antrey:

___I know the old HCH-I’s, the 7th gen Accord Coupe, Sedan, and Hybrid’s, but I do not know the 8th gen Civic’s Cd (any of them) and I have looked for it for a while? If you run into it, let me know as I have some places to post that data.

Wikipedia claims the 2001 civic has a Cd of 0.36 and Honda claims the new Civic improved on the previous generation by 5%. That would put the current generation at 0.342. That seems quite high for a modern car focused on fuel economy. The hybrid Civic seems to be at 0.28. The lower value for the hybrid is probably primarilay due to the wheel design.

Hi Antrey:

___I have not looked up the 6th gen but the 8th gen Civic (non-hybrid) has to be below .34. Just looking at the rake off the rear window to reduce separation makes that thing look to be in the high .2x’s if not lower? The 7th gen HCH-I was pushing .28 and I have the feeling the 8th gen HCH-II is pushing down in the .26 range myself.

___Good Luck
