Fast charge LiFEPO4 developments...

Without access to the nature article it is hard to say whether there is anything new.

But a recent presentation by one of the authors is here (PDF) showing 400C rates

Anyway at this stage power levels for BEV acceleration are more than good enough...
e.g. MiEV 16kWh battery for 50kW electric motor ->max 3D rate is needed
the larger the energy range of the battery means lower power rates, so mostly it is hybrids or low range PHVs which need the higher power levels.

For fast recharge the problem is not the battery, it is the charger
To illustrate for the MIEV
i.e. 10C rate charger (6minutes) needs to be 160kW
20C rate needs to be 320kW

The phoenix SUV with the altairnano battery used a 250kW charger to get a 10minute recharge.
