So, I never really got into the concept of programming new and wonderful functions into the SG2, except for the most fleeting moments of initiative. Usually those moments pass, because anytime I'm ever in the car I'm either 1) on my way to work, 2) on my way home from work, or 3) the fiance is in the car (need I say more).
So the other day I got to thinking and wondering what else I could be looking at while I'm driving and decided to check out the SG website and look for inspiration. I found some very simple instructions to display crank horsepower. Fantastic. That sounds like fun, and I've got just the spot for it. I'm not really watching my intake air temp the way I was this summer.
After work yesterday I decide to take a minute to perform this very simple feat of programming so I can be on my way, stomp the gas and giggle. Before cranking over I turn on the SG2, press MORE>MORE>MORE, but alas, no XGAUGE. I tried it a few times, all I got was VERSION. 3.02 at that. Boo.
So I look into it and see when I bought it and it turns out that I'm just barely eligable for the free upgrade because I bought it in AUGUST of '07. And they would love to upgrade it if I would just send it in. Boo. Go ask any 8 year old and I will guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that they will not be sending their toy through the mail to Arizona.
I'm resourseful, and no dim bulb, either. I've contacted them and asked about the possibility of upgrading here, at my house, in Connecticut. Customer Service doesn't seem to think so. Sadness and woe. So now I've sent another email asking if I were to find someone else with Version 3.15, would I be able make an image of their SG2 and load it onto mine via that oh so convenient Cat5 hookup in the back. Now, I wait.
So, anybody else explore this route?
