I've had an odd problem with the SG unit cutting out - had a unit sent back and replacement unit does the same thing - I believe it may be down to the power/voltage going to the unit. The obd port uses the same power as the radio/cigarette lighter/interior lights/dashboard lights - now the problem is on this same circuit I have the following -

Hands free kit for mobile phone
iPhone charger connected to cigarette lighter socket
GPS device connected to the above socket

which I believe may be drawing enough to shut the SG unit down - unfortunately I can't move those components to a different feed, but would it be possible to change the power feed that the SG unit uses to a different circuit?

As i know OBD port should have constant power supply (On pin 16 there should be +12 volts even if ignition key is turned off). But cigarette lighter .e.g sockets have 12 volt only if key is turned on. That can be source of problem. Try to measure voltage on pin 16 OBD when ignition is off.

But pins 2/10 are the +/- connections which feed from the cigarette lighter circuit.

pins 2 and 10 in obd2 connector are BUS+ and BUS- signal wires used for PWM communication they are connected to ECU (so cannot be used as a power source). Pin 4 is Signal Ground , Pin 5 is body Ground pin 16 is +12 Volt (power source).

What kind of car? Set your rate to "slow."

Have tried with rate set to slow, makes no difference.

Its actually going into sleep mode, as soon as you press the home button its back to the last displayed screen - It also seems to only do it whilst cruising at a steady speed (The speed varies, could be 30mph, could be 70mph).

Set it to slow and found it was worse, set it to fast and also displayed a value which changed more often and it's been stable ever since.
