Mr. Takimoto said the future of hydrogen vehicles depends on consumer acceptance as well as the availability of hydrogen refueling stations. (http://greeninc.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/12/coming-soon-hydrogen-and-electric-vehicles-from-toyota/)

It is an exciting time for those in alternative fuel research! -- Ed.

Toyota plans to begin selling a hydrogen-powered car in 2015, and a two-seater electric vehicle in 2012, the company announced Tuesday at the North American International Auto Show.

Toyota’s announcements came a day after it said it would introduce a plug-in hybrid-electric vehicle late this year, a year ahead of schedule.

The announcements came on top of the introduction of the third-generation Prius hybrid, which Toyota unveiled on Monday, and a new dedicated hybrid for Lexus, the HS250h, which it announced on Tuesday.

Toyota’s efforts are part of a broad company focus on alternative-fuel vehicles, which is receiving increased funding despite a financial crisis facing... http://greeninc.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/12/coming-soon-hydrogen-and-electric-vehicles-from-toyota/

Dateline 2030: Toyota announces personal warp capable shuttle craft to be available by 2035. The few hundred to be made will be leased to government agencies in order to test their viability on the open market. This is in response by world governments to reduce the use of fossil fuel based aviation fuel to combat global warming and to contend with peak oil which occurred back in 2015 though this is disputed by the Cambridge Research Associates which maintains that the production shortfalls are due to lack of investment in new technology and bans on drilling in protected areas such as those at the North Pole.

The major road blocks to wide public acceptance are the cost of the dilithium crystals which power the vessel and are currently in short supply due to high demand by China in its effort to build a Warp 5 capable starship. The US is also in the race with China to build a Warp 5 capable starship through NASA's Warp 5 program.

I'm all for EVs and better hybrids. But as far as fuel cell vehicles go, has anyone figured a way around the fact that FCVs cost a million dollars each to produce and the fuel cell stacks degrade after 25,000 miles?

Well, when I went to go hear a speech from Obama earlier in 2008, he said something about raising the minimum wage to a living wage. If we all need million dollar cars we know that that means $-)

Hi All:

___At first I enjoyed Micheline’s write-ups through the summer and fall but lately, she has really blown it. Maximizing the FE of her Prius from a site that has no idea about what they are doing let alone the PHEV item in this article.

___Fortunately, Sean, Manuel, Mike, Kacey, and I were all there to hear that the PHEV Toyota will be offering up for a few small fleets is in no way ready for the average consumer. The time line move works for the fleet test but the consumer PHEV is still late 2010 form all we know and could be delayed further depending if GM is a viable entity via which we will receive the Volt at that point in time?

___H2? She took that one in hook, line and sinker...

___Good Luck

Ah yes there is one truth: this is all publicity because everyone else is announcing something cool. So Toyota will have to announce a plan themselves. I'm sure car manufacturers all have something in development all the time. It's when they want to announce it that matters. I'm sure the current economic environment is forcing them to announce things they normally would wait a little longer.

Mr. Takimoto did say it depends on consumer acceptance and availability of fueling stations. Those are the true.
