For me, hypermiling is covered (not that I won't attempt to improve ;) )
The room to improve at home, work, etc is greater.

View Full Version : Green/Hypermiling New Year's Resolutions Chuck 01-01-2009, 05:06 PM For me, hypermiling is covered (not that I won't attempt to improve ;) ) The room to improve at home, work, etc is greater. diamondlarry 01-01-2009, 05:23 PM Chuck, I'll have to agree with you about room for improvement at home and work. I'll have to put some thought into specifics but I'd bet electricity usage could be an area to concentrate on. seftonm 01-01-2009, 06:06 PM A few things for the summer: Drive less and bike/walk more, buy more food locally from farmer's markets and so on, and grow some myself. rdprice64 01-01-2009, 06:08 PM I resolve to: - find more LED solutions to replace the current CFLs - better maintain the house's HVAC to improve efficiency - add more house plants to reduce the need for electronic heat/cooling and humidity control - to get better at DWL and P&G, relying less on my battery pack and more on my foot control and mind control for FE - to find more ways to get on the bus or bike instead of driving. It could take longer than just 2009 for all this, but its a start! - Rob Right Lane Cruiser 01-01-2009, 10:11 PM I tried to replace my three halogen spotlights in the den track lighting with some LED lighting I found at Wal*Mart. Unfortunately, I failed to note that the new bulbs only output 35 lumens. The wife won't accept such a low light output. :o lamebums 01-02-2009, 12:15 AM With regards to hypermiling, my resolution is to stop getting so pissed off/easily provoked on the road. I'll happily fire off a string of four-letter words that would make anybody blush if I hit enough red lights in a row. And if someone road rages on me I'll quickly return the favor, often without thinking. There's the generic resolutions everyone makes: lose weight and/or get healthy, be a better person in general, etc. In life, though, it's just to be a better person. This was the subject of discussion in the car last en route to a party (yeah, I know...) What purpose do I have in life? Why am I here? And if the purpose is not so clear, then what can I do to find a clear one for myself? I know what I've been blessed and cursed with, and will just have to try and capitalize on my opportunities as much as possible, and not let an idiot on the road get to me because if it escalates into a shooting match I could end up in jail, or worse, dead, and then everything else suddenly goes out the window. And really I do need to keep a lid on it or something bad will happen. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
